Flow Question

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. While I am stuck inside I thought I would ask a question about flow in my tank.

Currently I have one WP10 that is located past the mid point on the right side of my tank. I have it running @ 50% during the day and lower at night. I have noticed that flow seems to go around the aquascape, rise up and then go around the aquascape again. It eventually makes it up to the overflow areas. As per the picture below.
My question is should I add my second WP10 to left hand side around the mid pt. -it would be located under the overflow where my skimmer is, so will this cause problems and do I need additional flow in the tank?

Probably wont need anything more. Try to adjust the placement of the current wp. If you do decide to get a second, pic up the variable power supply so that you can have more control at a lower voltage. Right now you are running 24v at 50%, with the variable supply set to 12v, you could fine tune the flow even better. If that makes sense.

My extra wp10 doesn't have the variable ps, at least not that I am aware of.

Enough flow or lack of is something we all ask our selves, Too much, not enough? Looking at your placement of the power head, I would either point it across the tank at level or point it up so it breaks the surface. Breaking the surface will add oxygen to your tank which is good it also agitates the surface which is good but the downside is it will evaporate faster. More top off required. In my tank I have my MP40 pararell and my WP25 breaking the surface. And there is sufficiant flow.

All great points, but mostly related to sumpless setups. With overflows and skimmers in reef tanks, surface agitation is less important then in sumpless systems.

Jewel is right, too much, too little, all in the eyes of the owner and corals reactions.

Thanks guys. Always get food for thought. Doesn't hurt to have a backup :) so far the tank seems to like it..but currently running at 50% so may ramp it up a little. Definite improvement over my little koralia.
