Fox Face Hiding

I bought a Fox Face from Bill at IA, It's the first addition to the tank, My Rock has plenty of room to hide away and that's what it's doing. 3 Days now it's eating so that's good and I gave it some Algea Wavers over nite and it's all gone but he won't come out and swim around the tank. Maybe the lighting schedule is off what he's used to so I've stayed with the Atinic, Any suggestions?

What are his tank mates? The Fox Faces at bills were looking pretty darn healthy when I was there last, so perhaps he is just still getting used to your tank? It has only been a few days....

Sorry to hear your little guy is so shy. He is probably just settling in...

I bought a foxface from Bill a few weeks back and he hardly ever hides anymore. I would say he was very shy for the first few days and every time I would approach the tank he would shoot off into a cave and turn into his camo colour until I left the room. Mine didn't even eat the first 2 days. I would say that it took about5 days for him to become comfortable and boy is he ever. He has become a real little monster with algae and food. He gobbles up everything before anyone else and has literally bashed into my clowns a couple times going for food which is weird as I feed everyday and he still gets nori to graze on!

So maybe just give him some time to turn into the food monster like mine has .
Oh yeah and mine has been caught on a few occasions nibbling on my zoanthids. Otherwise he is well behaved.

No Kids it's pretty quiet here, Maybe he's just shy. I dropped in an Algea Waffers Zip tied to a small piece of plastic pipe and he just exploded through the tank so I know he can swim, Yes he keeps turning on the Camo and he is eating so I think he'll be ok there were lots of fish in his old tank at the store, Maybe he's missing them. Is it true they will mate with another for Life, Anyone got two in their tanks.

Sometimes fish need friends to be brave.  He is used to a reef and if there is no other fishes swimming around it would probably mean a predator I the area.  Mine did the same thin when I got it.

I have had a few foxfaces over the years, some are really timid and never grow out of it.  I agree some other fish might make him feel more at ease.

Update on the Fox Face hes out and about more hes still a bit timid but hes ok, thinking about adding a Yellow Tang on the weekend i'm sure that'll peak his interest and get him swimming around.

My yellow tang has been the same way as your fox face , for 2 years. Very shy, he acts like a boss when he needs to. other then that he's always hiding when I come down to the tank to feed.

We have a Foxface and a One Spot Foxface at this time.  The Foxface was added at the same time as a Dejardin Tang and they are the best of friends.  They were together at Bill's so they already knew each other.  The One Spot hid anywhere it could find until we added our next fish and it wasn't the "newbie" anymore. It now hangs out with the Yellow tang all the time.

I think once I put another fish in there he'll be fine, He's eating and he doesn't mind when I'm in front of the tank so that's good.

I bought a Tomato Clown from Brandon, thanks buddy the Corals look great as well. I wouldn't say hes your average Tomato, He's big and he's gorgeous, Dark, dark Orange but he's peaceful. He hangs out with the Fox Face and he gets along quite well. I think Tomatoes are hell when you have two but alone they are just another fish with Character. I'm very happy with him.
