Frag tank cracked :(

Right on the bottom panel of glass, water was coming out quick until tank was only 1/4 full then the pressure must not have been enough to go through crack.
I guess pink styro foam is too dense now that I read more, I used it as it was what I had on hand

As of right now no. I lost probably 5-10 gallons before noticing, then another 5-10 while moving everything over.

That's good, ( that you didn't lose much or anything ) you going to replace it immediately? If you need something temporary maybe grab one of those plastic totes from crappy tire.
They might even have something similar size to what the frag tank was....

Pulp I think tank as a little over a year old, under 2 years I believe:  the fact the glass cracked before silicone let go boggles me.

Yea, I'm not sure, tank was level spite my floors being unlevel, so styro was doing something for sure. I have just read the pink is a little dense and doesn't crunch enough to effectively level the tank...even though it was level :s

I am sure there are many people who use the pink styro with success long term.

Fortunately you did not lose anything.  Happened to a buddy and he got lucky I still had my stock tank up and running in the basement and held his stuff for a few weeks.

Are you getting sealife to cut a new panel and rebuild it? Was the bottom tempered glass?

Lambeth glass could do a custom tempered sheet that would replace the original, and in any thickness.

I didn't know pink insulation would put pressure on glass, but I guess it makes sense now that I think about it...

BTW what size was the frag tank?

I was a little worried when I read it was the tank that I built.  I built it last March or April so it was getting close to a year old (someone asked) although I dont think that matters if the glass breaks.  IT was made with 6mm glass so it definitely wasnt built like a tank but its with spec. 

Still sorry to hear about it cracking,  but I have to say I would feel a whole lot worse if my silicone job came undone.  Glad casualties are limited though.

The fact the glass cracked and silicone is still fine, I would say it cannot be attributed to the tank construction at all. There had to have been something causing excessive pressure in this area of tank.
