Hey all,

I wanted to reach out to see if anyone would be interested in setting up some sort of "Meet Up" bi weekly or so to just meet up and interact with others in the area and in the hobby.

I am in London and wanted to see if anyone in London or area (as far as you would want to come) would be interested in such a thing?

It could turn into a great place to learn about other hobbyist experiences and even have them set up around a specific topic. I understand there are the forums that people can learn from but another more "personal" approach would be nice too.

Let me know what you think or anyone has any additional ideas that would be awesome.

Back in the day i remember a few "reef clubs" that would meet every few months,, we would bring corals to sell and or trade,, always a sponsor or expert giving a little talk.. was great. always thought it would be great to get a few shops also to maybe hold a frag tank exclusive night... but it would mean some traveling for most as shops are spread out,

There is always interest. In my experience over the years is that it is always more work then people think and they don't do it again. Need a place to host, either home and have to deal with that or pay for a location. Then there is the relentless people complaining about the wrong weekend. It ends up being a lot more stressful then people think unless you are able to separate yourself from it all.

I know this is something that SMC in London was interested in starting eventually. He is currently participating in the Eco Divers coral spawn in the Cayaman Islands right now. You may want to reach out to him.

Rotating would be a cool idea. The summer months are about to start slowing down so it would be a good time to start looking into and get things going. I only wish that the hobby was big enough locally to me that this could be done. I know there are a lot of people in London in the hobby, not all are forum goers

Many many many years ago we used to have MACL Marine aquarium club of London. We would meet at a couple different members houses and I believe we had our own forum. It only lasted a couple of years and it was always the same 5-10 people every meeting. It was hard for them to get new members as something like this can be intimidating to new people.
