Seen a post on a reed group that seems to spark a debate.

"Feeling pretty accomplished. I have an electronics background but not so much house wiring. But the only place for my reef in our new house was direct in front of an outlet. Didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy. Maybe overkill but I will sleep better. I put the outlet on a GFCI circuit and put on an in use waterproof cover. The man cave is coming together!"

What are peoples oppinons on gfci also the cover pictured. Good idea bad idea ans why. I run a gfci on my tank for saftey. I have basically no coral and none of value so coral loss is always a concern but in my case saftey is a bigger one.

I'm more interested in whether or not you can find a gremlin in the EQ section of my Yamaha preamp, but yes, the first thing I did on all of my tanks was make sure they were on brand new GFCI outlets, and I to this day still test them monthly (which also tests the UPS backup systems for the tank). :)

Wherever there is water and you can reach both the outlet and the water at the same time use a Gfci. Also if water drips down the cord...
When installing outlets in a house the code states that all outlets within a certain distance of a sink/water source need to be gfci protected.

Im just wrapping up a fishroom for my 180build and installed all outlet's on a GFCI. Wired all on A 20 amp curcit, with 12gauge wire and put the GFCI right beside the panel. Dedicated curcit and all. Other things to consider is moister if the room is enclosed. I installed a bathroom vent on a timer (still need to program) to kick on and off all day on its own.
