Well today I lost my Copperband to a bully, I have had him for about 3 years from a small skinny runt to know would measure about 4 to 4.5 from tip of nose to tail, would fill most people's palms. I had to go out for about an hour and looked at tank before and all was well. I came back and there he was on his side gasping on top of my frag holder hanging of the side of the tank. I gave him a poke and him fluffed his fins and straightened up and there it was on the top just below his dorsal fin that dark bruised look of internal damage and on his right the same but the lethal wound, did not look like much, so I let him be and I just removed him about 30 minutes ago, found him nestled between to rocks upright, must have passed a short time before I took him out as he had full colour in his eyes and body. What a beautiful fish, I will miss him as I would watch as he would line up in front of a rock and sit there for a min and BAM nail something he would pick stuff of the glass so small it looked like a tiny speck of dirt. The culprit, a very well developed Scopas Tang I don't know what his problem is, at times he fine and cool around a everthing else and then bam he goes into psycho mode, he even challenges my Naso and gets his face wiggling his tail with those 2 spikes but most of the time the Naso just laughs and swims away but sometimes when he is not in the mood or he has had enough he spins around and flashes his tail and shows I have have 4 to your 2 so FO.
My advice stay away from Scopas Tangs as they are the nastiest Tangs.

I am very sorry for your loss
Copperbands are one of my favorite fish but they are delicate and can never compete with the aggressive nature of tangs
As sad as this may be to say, I think that you were lucky that you had him this long
I've kept tangs and Copperbands for years but now I never keep them together because I've lost Copperbands like you've lost yours
Depends on the size of the tank of course but a tank without tangs and a single cruising copperband is a very calm and peaceful set up. Beautiful in my opinion
Unless you change out some of your fish, I don't recommend getting another copperband at this time. As the "last" fish in, it won't stand a chance
Sorry again for your loss

So sorry for your loss. Copperbands have such personality, I love the way they are always at the glass at feeding time waiting for their food. Mine likes to "play" with the powerhead as well. Quite the clown.
