I thought I would try something different so about 45 min. ago. I moved my Gyre into the Vertical position, left side, about 1.5 inches from front glass and about 3 inches from the surface. Well I thought everything liked the Horizontal Gyre. The response from the fish was instant, they started to become much more active in a more natural way, swimming in and out of rock work across the front and back up and down. The polyp extension on the on all my SPS started to extend after about 20 min not just a few pieces, on one frag the polyps have come out so much that it almost hides the color of the base.
Now will have to see if this positive response stays or not.

Neat,I was going to do the same with my 150 once the 180 (or whatever the next size up model is named) is released. Will have the 180 horizontal and the 150 vertical.

On a side note did you notice that there is now an aftermarket module made by Icecap that allows the gyre to be controlled by most aquarium controllers? It will allow complete synchronization of multiple gyres and all other features currently available and is backward compatible.

I remember someone on here (can't recall who) saying the gyre was crap in the vertical position. Interesting...

A quick up date. No problems fish seem to be very happy and Corals Polyps are still responding in a positive way with extension. I have also noticed that Detritus is suspended in the water column all the time now this also goes for the food it stays suspended for much longer and moving. I just ordered a Jebao RW-15 and I am going to put it where I had the Gyre, this should add some Horizontal flow and some nice under tow. I must admit that I am very happy so far that I moved the Gyre as it has proven to be for the better so far.

I had an issue over time in the vertical. It seems that is compresses the heads (the paddles, blades, whatever) into the cages, and it will begin the fail. I basically roached the motor and needed a warranty replacement.

I have it horizontal now and it's pretty beasty
