Well I've been thinking about making or getting @J_T to make a 2-3 gallon hob fuge for my 44g, just wanting to add a little more life to the tank, get some macro's to help out with nitrates and any bad algae growth that may happen..

Thinking a 12"x4.5"x12" should do the trick, maybe something like this

Any thoughts?¿

I always liked the idea of the finnex HOB refugium. The new ones come with the water pump instead of air driven lift, as well as a few options for light. Might be worth checking out. Cheapest I've found was amazon.com, and they ship to Canada.
Oops...Just checked and apparently its unavailable right now on there.....

We used to use the largest aquaclear waterfall filter since they were often available cheap. IMO filling a space that size with bio-cubes might be more effective for nutrient control than a small amount of macro. FWIW when I was experimenting with a bag of bio-cubes in one overflow, it was constantly swarming with pods and mysis to the point that I kept it in place for food propagation even after I transitioned to a pellet reactor for nutrient control.
