It was a goonish move by Buffalo to send Scott out there after Kessel. It was pretty obvious they were trying to rattle him.

The first slash I can chalk up to just instinct. Scott is a big boy, and it would just be natural to use what is in your hands to try and get him to piss off. If a monster like him came after me, I would react the same way.

The second slash is blatant. No excuse.

The spear after the fight was over was the icing on the cake of the bitch-ness of Kessel. Had he just left it at one love tap and skated away no one would have blamed him.

3 pre season games is light imo for the actions.

Yes. But the suspension only counts for regular season, so he's alowed to play the pre season.

All I know is, it should make for some good match-ups when they face each other in the regular season. Add some more fuel to the rivalry. I enjoy watching the goalies get involved as well.

The entire situation was absolutely stupid though. I am glad to see Rolston get fined for putting Scott up against Kessel. That was a bonehead coaching move. I will give Kessel the first slash. The 2nd though was retarded and the spear at the end was just the ultimate stupidity move. Clarkson is also a moron. He didn't need to come on the ice at all. Really not sure why they overpaid him the way they did but that is a whole different discussion....

P.S - Leafs SUCK!!!!  I'm excited to see my team move into the Eastern Conference and make life miserable for everyone. Go Wings!!

I do agree putting Scott on the front line was a douchebag move, no question.  Regardless of how Kessel handled it (and who knows what scott said on the ice to get him going, so I'll give kessel the benefit of the doubt...sorta).  Still, maybe kessel is taking fighting lessons from kadri. 

It's all still pre season, I'm not watching until the pool is closed, and that's that.  In fact, I don't really get into it until jan, because up until then the leafs always seem to be at the top of the division, and there's all the "ooohhhhhh we rule, leaf nation blah blah blah", which usually quiets down after the leafs start to tank (very much like the jays this year...sorry Aaron)

It would be funny to see 3 leaf goons (and they do seem to be collecting them, about time) the next time they go up against scott.  Would make for interesting hockey, if not good hockey.
