Hanging onto the third seed slot in the Atlantic by a thread, but in good position for a wild card due too the pure shitiness of the Metropolitan division....

Isn't metropolitan the capitols, and penguins?

I still have no idea what a wildcard is.  All I know is Boston will come in first overall, and bettman can come in and go "oh no.....florida is now first over all, and you swap places...WILDCARD!"

Seriously? You do not understand how the wild card system works? It isn't rocket science dude....

Lets take the East for example:

Top three in the Atlantic, and the top three in the Metropolitan division are seeded 1-6 automatically.

Then of the remaining teams the next top two teams in the Eastern Conference are awarded the two "wildcards" they can both be from the Atlantic or both from the Metro, or obviously one from each. Doesn't matter, it is just the next top two point teams gets seeded as number 7 and 8 respectively.

Thats about the dummy friendliest version I can come up with. If you still don't get it, I would seriously consider getting yourself checked out for brain damage Glen....

Pages 18 and 19 of this thread show examples if you need them to help you understand this concept....

Anyone playing battlefield 4?  For whatever reason I haven't played a single map with vehicles, and it's weird.  Maybe I don't get vehicles because I only bought the regular version and not the deluxe or premiere?

2 games to be played too for boston, let's not forget.

Hey we didn't have any trouble beating you guys.  So san jose does well against the lesser teams, but when they come up against a -real- cup contender they crumble, is that what you're saying?

I'm saying I'll bet that starting in this season going forward, San Jose wins a cup before Boston does.

Aside from winning in '10 and losing in '13 Boston hasn't done much since '90 (yes, 21 years ago..... the last year you guys were in the cup finals in recent history.... 2 years before we were even a team)

Also it technically gives Toronto 2 more years to win a cup and be on pace since their last cup win to tie you guys..... Boston's last cup was '72 vs the leafs in '67

Heh, going down to chicago last year was 'pretty close' to winning a cup, and that's out of 30 teams.  That said, I don't need them to win a cup, I need them to play every game to the last minute, and for the most part, they do.  Last week I watched Vancouver play the kings and even though the kings absolutely smeared them (5-1), it wasn't a lopsided game, it was fantastic to watch because the canucks played to the last second of the clock.  That's hockey for me.

that said who knows, I mean look at phoenix, coming out of nowhere.  The leafs are blaming injuries on their current mediocre showing (lost one and struggled on the second to the last team in the league).  So it proves they don't have the depth (every team gets injuries).  Your 3rd and 4th lines simply have to be able to carry the whole show when it's needed.  Can you honestly say your 3rd and 4th lines are playoff caliber?  The higher your team ends in points, the harder it is to build from new stock too.

our 3rd and 4th lines have always been a troubling spot for us. And I 100% agree, we have consistently placed well in the regular season, which often excludes us from picking up super low draft picks which in turn does not allow us to build our younger roster. However in recent years San Jose has picked up some nice young talent like Couture and Vlasic, (who knows where Hertl will go, he is still way too unproven to consider him much more than a flash in the pan as of now)

We have a big offseason coming up.

Thornton (7 million / age: 34), Marleau (6.9 million / age: 34), & Boyle (6.7 million / age: 37) are all UFA at the end of the year. Thats 20.6 million in roster spots.

Three franchise money type players, but are slightly older and they are going to want their next contracts will carry them pretty darn close to retirement I bet.

Does San Jose sell off their chips and start fresh and begin anew? Or keep with the tried and tested method of competing for the President's Trophy and nothing more.... lol

Well that was a great game. Pens vs Boston... Played till the last second. Literally.

Couldn't get the game, had to watch the NHL.COM score tracker.  It actually showed the game over at 2-3.  5 minutes later it showed OT and 3-4.

You know when their own announcers are calling them stinkers... lol.    I think they play the pens next, hope they get a practice in between now and then.

Heh they were saying that phaneuf is one of the least liked players in the league.  "He's hard to like".  Analyst this morning was talking about kadri being a weasel that likes to play dirty but then fights with his gloves on.  The media isn't forgiving when the leafs lay an egg.

Hm.  Boston and Chicago at the top of their conferences today.  Looks like it might be a repeat of last year.  Except the leafs won't have the benefit of a short season to keep them in the post season.  Last night was likely a sign of things to come more than an off night.

Tampa bay is surprisingly strong this year.  Teeny st louis is obviously doing well again this year after a few lackluster years.  Man that boy can skate.
