And if you want to talk injuries and make that an excuse, take a look at the Penguins injury this year, 450 game missed due to injury, still topped the conference. With 3/4 ahl playersz

Re: HOCKEY talk & video games too.

I think the argument comes from throwing the word "dynasty"  around a little too carelessly...  Dynasty is a title that is earned..  I agree with theyangman,  the frequency in wins,  cups and longevity isn't enough to call Pittsburgh a dynasty..  Let's talk about dynasty teams,  any sport....  And draw comparison..

Honestly don't care what you guys say. The dynasty years of this team, right now, are being pissed away. I know it's hard to face those words when is not your team but, with these two on the team this should be a annual event the cup final.

Yes I do realize Boston has the all time playoff streak, but that was in a different era, and comparing hockey today from back in the 60's is a little tough.... (although it did end sometime in the late 90's....)

Could've,  should've  would've  doesn't count!  Especially when using the word dynasty to describe a team

Doesn't matter what you wings fans think, this team is a dynasty, with it's best years being pissed away with a (Poop)ty build around their star players. Of course a fan from another hockey club will disagree with me, and then say his clubs a dynasty. With two washed up bums like Zetterburg ( out most of the year ), and Pavel ( great player, not as effective as he once was, also out most the year) y

Never did I say my Wings are better then your pens (this year) that would be stupid.  I did say they were plagued by injuries (Fact).  It only makes sense to assume that if they would of had there 2 best players back they would of done much better (speculation of course, but you would say the exact same thing if it was Malkin or Crosby).  Pens did have a lot of injuries, however the quality of players hurt on each team was very different.

Ok the chances of this being a dynasty club are being kissed away. My bad

Agree 100%, they have the chance to be a dynasty, but in no way would anyone say the Pens are a dynasty in there current form with there current record.

Worded much better....

But I guess that could be said of Boston also...  Do they not have super talent??
And yes, I am a life long Wings fan, and do see hope for the future of the club with the display of young talent this year.  But i'd hardly want to say there is chance of them being a dynasty club.  They were, now they aren't the same team....
When they produce consistently year to year, and bring home Stanley,  i'll start to use the word Dynasty again...

Boston doesn't really have super talent, there's no 'superstar' on the team, Bergeron would be the closest to a 'star' player.  Boston has watched the wings for a long time, they talked about it at one point, and they put a lot of time and effort into building 3rd and 4th lines.  Boston has depth, not stars.  Stars get knocked down and out, so you need the rest of the team to step up (as the wings have done).  The other thing the redwings don't do is fire everyone when they have a bad stretch.  They make small changes and continue on.  Same with Boston, they will make some changes, analyze what went wrong and we'll plug ahead next year.  Even Chara isn't a 'star' although he is likely the toughest person to replace on our team (who else can play the entire blue line on a power play?).  The habs series could have gone either way, even hab fans know it.  That's what makes it a palpable loss.  If it was a 4 game blowout then we would have problems, but it wasn't.  We need to fix something, but not something huge.

Obviously I've never been a fan of the 'star' player and firing the shit out of the team because the newspapers say to.  When crosby was hurt last year, malkin stepped up big time but the team sort of sucked when crosby returned.  Mats sundin was the same way, he was THE guy on the ice but they played better when he wasn't there (even though he was a point-a-game player).  I almost think the capitals would be a far better team without ovechkin hogging all the ice time and all the plays.  A lot of teams seem to rely on the superstar, ever since the Gretzky days, but without enforcers, your stars can't shine on the ice.  Imagine what crosby could do if he had his wish and nobody could even breathe on him when he had the puck?

(just personal opinion of course)

100% bang on. They obviously have most of the pieces, just a few tweaks and you could see a dangerous team for years to come.

Re: HOCKEY talk & video games too.

Oh I agree the team needs the gritty guys to give Crosby and Malkin the room to perform, this team lacks that  and is 100% there main issue.

These two going is probably he biggest moves Pittsburgh makes this offseason.

Our legacy is not one to brag about..... Pretty much why I have shut my yap this playoffs and not really interjected much on bashing anyone, cause well we sucked it up bigger than anyone since 2010.....
