How Often Do You Disassemble And Clean Your Skimmer?

How often do you disassemble and clean your Skimmer?
Do you take the skimmer apart? how do you clean it? with vinegar or just hot water? is there anything that needs special attention?

Good question...I was looking at mine today thinking I should clean it....but I didn't lol

I do mine once a month and it needs it badly by that time... I take mine COMPLETELY apart and wash it in hot water, just the bubble magus never had to take apart the reef octopus.. just remember if you take your apart how it goes back together... voice of experience...

I just started once a month for me, too. Take apart totally, wash with vinegar. Amazing how much better it functions after the cleaning.

and the smell is a lot better too, lol...the dogs don't get blamed for anything smelly any more...

Thank god mines a hang on the back the cup once a month and the whole skimmer maybe once a year lol... But I should aim once every 3-4 months ( I took mine off filled a 5 gallon bucket of really hot water and vinager and ran it for 5 hours) came out pretty clean and I think worked better !
