I picked up a couple Peppermints a few months ago. No more Aiptasia now. However my frogspawn was gone one day and I saw them picking on my hammer. In all fairness the frogspawn fell inside a rock while I was doing tank maintenance and may have picked up an infection. But the next day it was COMPLETELY gone. I moved the hammer into a basket but it soon developed brown jelly disease. I was ready to get rid of the shrimp as I had read many other stories of them eating corals. But then I thought maybe they were only eating unhealthy corals. They don't seem too interested in anything new I've put in. They check it out quickly and then move on.
So I'll keep them for now but I'm keeping an eye on them as well. I did read somewhere that you can train the shrimp by feeding them flake food. Then blend some of the flake food with tank water and squirt on the Aiptasia. The Aiptasia will eat the flake slurry and then the shrimp will eat the Aiptasia. Worth a shot if you're having problems with them eating the Aiptasia.
Dave.
