What do these red bugs look like
Haha your a funny guythey are bugs...and they are red.
They are tiiiiiny, almost microscopic, quick moving, and prefer smooth acropora skin. Pinhead or smaller. Your coral will not extend polyps and eventually die. Only way to treat in a tank is with interceptor, and that's a death sentence for almost everything crab-like in the tank.
Yet another reason not to put hermits etc. in your tank.....They are tiiiiiny, almost microscopic, quick moving, and prefer smooth acropora skin. Pinhead or smaller. Your coral will not extend polyps and eventually die. Only way to treat in a tank is with interceptor, and that's a death sentence for almost everything crab-like in the tank.
I have a green carolinian, they could be seen on that, not just at night, daytime. They are WAY smaller than they look in that pic above, and they don't really glow. You can see them. I had to get interceptor from the vet, they had to check that I couldn't make meth with the stuff or something, I kid you not. That was a few years back, been dipping in the bayer ever since, won't put anything in the tank without it. Rather have one frag die than have to go through all that again. If you looked for a while will you visibly see them ?
And do they like to hide and only come out at night ?
Yep, I have 2 wrasses and think every reef tank should have at least one.
You just have to be careful that the wrasse you choose is of the reef friendly variety.
Sixline is supposed to be good as is the Melanarus but they can be a bit aggressive to other fish.
I am not 100% sure but I was told that the Coris wrasses - yellow, green ect. Do the same job but are very peaceful.
And now that I have one of each, that does seem to be the way.
Also, the smaller Coris wrasse is supposed to be good at leaving your CUC alone.
Neither of mine seem to go after them.
What about snails @Salty Cracker ?They are tiiiiiny, almost microscopic, quick moving, and prefer smooth acropora skin. Pinhead or smaller. Your coral will not extend polyps and eventually die. Only way to treat in a tank is with interceptor, and that's a death sentence for almost everything crab-like in the tank.
Best way bud would be to pull all ACRO's out of the tank treat with the Bayaer, QT THE SPS in another tank, wait a couple day dip again repeat dip as many times as necessary, basically have to wait about a month I believe if you want to make sure the red bugs are gone from the DT, no host-no red bugs...Gotcha! @Shooter000
No I never do but, just wondered if me or someone else found they DID have some, what is the BEST course of "action" is all.
Obviously they bugs would be everywhere in the tank so, what would one do that would have the least negative impact on your tank?
