Hydrogen Peroxide

Well..........I found on the WWW a " solution to algae of all kinds". So just wondering what you guys and gals think.

Apparently you add: 1 ml hydrogen peroxide per 10 gal. Daily for 5 days.

Kills hair algae, bubble, all of them...

I'm not a chemist. I don't know if you factor in the sump, I assume so, but this is suppose to help. What do you think? Anyone try this yet?

I use it directly into my koi pond for killing algae. Peroxide is just water with an extra o2 atom. H2o2. I would pour it on my return with the flow shut off and in a few minutes wipe away the algae. Also you can add barel to a pond and as it breaks down the by product is same as peroxide so it keeps the in pond algae way down. I can't say about the effect in a marine aquarium but in a pond it's all good and safe.

I use h2o2 weekly.

Do not! Do not! Use in a reef tank with corals. Some corals will bleach almost immediately using it.

Fish only us fine. But you have to slowly work up to full dose.

Try clarity max plus for your join pond. It works better and I've been using it for years. I have a YouTube channel dedicated to my pond.

For use in a reef tank I have done it and had corals. It had no ill effects but I didn't have sps.

Most lps, softies and zoas are fine with h2o2

If the bryopsis is coming back. But I usually wait 5-7 day between dips to allow them to heal

I would definately dip them again. Maybe an old toothbrush to help get it off.

Ok will do today. This would be like dipping in coral rd? Make a solution of water and peroxide. And a rinse water. Do I leave in for a certain length of time or just dip and go?

All I do is use a small cup with enough tank water just to cover the frag.
Then I start adding Peroxide slowly. I stop as I begin to see tiny bubbles forming around the algae.
I let it sit like that for about 10-15min while using a pipette or turkey baster to blast the water over the algae and frag.
Then rinse in a separate container of clean tank water.
Put back in the tank and you're done.
I've have some zoas open within an hour after the dip and some which have taken a few days to open back up
