So most of you know I have been having issues with my skimmer - I've cleaned it a few times over the last two months and it would keep over flowing. Well today I decided I would clean it one last time and pull it all apart.
When I took off the air line I discovered that the air cover had some build up in it and seemed restricted. I put it in vinegar and let it sit. I ended up pulling a small calcium pebble out - it's now working better than ever - I just hope the new skimmer hasn't been shipped yet - wow I'm a dummy

you are not dumb. Most of us have done the same thing but just won't admit to it.. Its always the simplest things that get us..tomorrow is testing and cleaning day so, when I clean my skimmer I think that I will have a look at the air line..

I recently had to add a new pump to my skimmer, on my old one(psk2500) the wires corroded right off. The new pump was a replacement and none of the connectors fit, either too big or too small..so mine got a really good cleaning to make the new pump work.

Depending on what Reef Octopus, if it's the 3000 that's a nice skimmer, a little noisy again depending on the pump. if it's the Blaster. then I'd keep it if not keep the Vertex

Love my Reef Octopus SRO 3000! Great skimmer.

Yep that's the one - it should be here on Wednesday
I just not sure it will make that much of a difference for the $
The vertex is so much quitter now and keeping up
Poll should be spend the $ on skimmer or coral or a controller?
Or sell vertex and keep the octopus
