IMPORTANT!!!! MARINELAND STEALTH HEATER RECALL

JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW MARINELAND  did a recall on all steath pro submersible heaters all black ones i got a letter in the mail today from petsmart. they are recalling them due to the body unexpectly opening up out of nowhere.  i had 2 and funny thing is i had one pooch on me last month in my back up water..thank god so return them or take a chance---- dont need ur receipt

WOW you have to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!
Check my post I just did today with my tank being zapped... guess what heater it was??? Yep the Marineland Stealth and it was split right up the side with the guts hanging out all in my sump!!!
I'm going to lose a lot of corals due to this, and they recall them today lol.
Oh Man Im mad.

Did you have to bring in your letter to pets mart or just the heater and no questions asked?

I have two of these, one bought at petsmart one bought used

the girl at the register knew right away when i said " im returing these because of a recall letter i got from u guys" i already had the letter in my hand but it wasn't addressed to me on the letter just the outside envelope so i dont see it being a prob. if they ask to see the letter just say u left it at home.

oh ya thing is im pretty sure the recall is for only the 150, 200 250, 300 watt heaters i would scan the letter for u guys but i already threw it out once i exchanged them........... hey ian shitty dude u should write them a letter with pics. maybe u'll get free stuff out of it like a led fixture or something???

So i called marineland today about the heater issue and they have a claims department for any damage the heaters have done to your tank, live stock ect. call them for all the details I have the 300watt stealth series and told them it worked but wanted it replaced they are currently sending me a 400watt different model free he also said if your heater has exploded in your tank  they contain copper (Not good) and release it into the tank just so everyone knows hope this helps.

well thanks for posting this, Returned one of mine and got a 300watt fuval.
Probably not the best but petsmart does not have that many options.

I thought I read somewhere that most retailers who sold them, would accept the recalled heaters and return these to the manufacturer.

I bought mine at Big Als called them today about the heater issue and they knew nothing about it thats why i call Marineland direct and they are replacing it no questions asked.
