You know I can't believe you are the only one that has said anything maybe because it was not a new post. Yes I was and still debating between the Aquavitro and D&D, I did pick up some Aquavitro as stated and did one water change( about 20 gal. in a 110 with 35 sump so about100 gal total water volume) so far and can say I have seen a difference in the 2 Softies that I have they did perk up. I like having a least one softy as they respond so quickly to changes. Oh and I was surprised I used half of what I usually use to get 1.026 actually it came out to 1.028. What I like about this Salt is it was designed from the start for 1.026 ( should be saying 35 ppt ) so whatever is added was added for at a mixture rate for 35 ppt so if there is a variance in the mix it should not be a lot. It was kind of funny when he told me this he was bent over pulling the bucket out when he said, " ya I think we will see a lot more complaints about the salts because as of end of 2014 start of 2015 all IO and RC are made in China, I said pardon he said it again I said I'm sorry what, he said it again and said I sorry I sometimes talk too low" the whole time it wasn't I could not hear him it was I can't believe my F'n ears. He thinks it is just now going to peak because of stock at the time and usage and amount sold.

This is the way industry goes. A North American wants $15/hr. and a person in the third world will work for $5/day. In turn we get what we pay for. So I say if it's made over there, and the quality sucks, then tell everyone! Then, stop buying the crappy cheap stuff, and tell the store managers why you wont buy the product. Make sure everyone in the store hears you tell the staff that they are selling poor quality goods. Now suck it up and buy something made with quality. This is why I hate dollar stores. Cheap crap, that you have to buy again and again, and your helping to un-employ people in Canada.

Made in America so America can make it. I wish that people realize that by saving a couple bucks on cheap crap, they are screwing themselves, and the country as a whole.

Canada is very tough place to make a dollar with Katie and king idiot in power. "Helping the middle class" my a....

Guess we should tell the retailers, on this site and others, we want better quality salt. AND we expect it to stay in stock! Boxing day sales are still greatly appreciated.;)

Yeah I'm not about to change from RC, that's for sure. IO has a LOT to lose if they just arbitrarily start wrecking people's billion dollar reef tanks, so again, I'm going to go on record saying I don't think there's anything wrong with IO RC. Just popped open a new bucket last week and the tank looks just fine with 30 new gallons in it :)

Over 75 aquariums, zoos and other facilities in North America use Instant Ocean Sea Salt. List attached. I think those ads posted were just using the name to sell salt. Got to love the lack of branding laws there, as well all know.

As long as there is quality there will be customers. When quality goes to hell, then there needs to be a consequence. As reefers you put too much money into your tanks to risk on some company's profit margin. If it's good then use it, but if they are selling substandard goods WE all need to stand up, and set them straight. Reefers are the community that keeps these companies in business.

I'm glad to see that Io is made in North America.

Ok so I have come to the conclusion that yes there is some inconsistency in some batches. As far as my problem goes I dont have enough coral in my tank YET to use the alk so it is high. I might look at switching salt for the time being with a lower alk till the corals grow and demand a higher alk.

Well thats interesting and good to know, but still does not help on the numbers that many are getting from IO/RC. I have used IO and RC off and on for over 25 years and when I first started using it we were getting much lower numbers back then it was not enough Cal would be in the 300 to 380, cheese I would almost prefer that know. Anyhow if the information I posted is wrong I apologize, I was just following up from what I heard. I have switch for now to Aquavitro and will see how I make out with it.

Have any of you checked your source water??? I know mine has been higher alk ever since the snow melt and is just starting to come down now. Usually I have to dose before adding to get it up but lately it's been high enough on its own.

I have used IO for ages...switched to RC since I was only using Kalk and got more into SPS than that could handle....When the new tank is up and running with the large calcium reactor online I will likely return to regular IO.

Remember with a 10% water change, if your tank is 8dkh and your new water is 11dkh it will only raise your tank to 8.3dkh....
