Is Anyone Using Hydrated Lime For Kalk?

yes but i don't use the home depot version. I buy bags of the stuff from the company in Mississauga mentioned in the link, it comes in 50 KG bags. I am due to go get my next order soon so if you didnt want to order 80 lbs of it let me know and i can set aside a few pounds for you. I dont charge much for it, the price of the stuff plus my costs to pick it up, package it,etc. i would rather trade to be honest, dont really need to money for it

Sorry by banned I don't mean the hydroxide, I meant using the name 'pickling lime'...

In the end it's all the same stuff in the can :)...well possibly except the lime they use in concrete or icing salts.. there's no guarantees they are good safe where as you know lime used in food or research food grade is.

No its not banned in canada, the manager at zehrs told me that theres a new product thats cheaper for pickling and comes with all the spices in it, so pickling lime wasn't selling anymore thats why its hard to find.
