so just starting to have things loooking good in the tank ..... corals and my water parm ... ect ... My skimmer the new reef octopus 5000sss, starting to make a weird noise ... i think something is in the pump ... hard to get my skimmer out of my sump ... why you might ask well cause I made everything fit just so ... oh the skimmer can come out ... as soon as i un hook the plumping lol ... I mean it working but its weird ... so i have emailed reef supplies canada ... my hope is they just send me a new pump ... so when i do pull it all out i can just swap it ... I mean its only 4 months old anyhow ... so crosses fingers...

special thanks to scubasteve, unibob and you guys for putting up with me lol ....

i do have a 150-s classic octopus skimmer in box waiting for the new redseareef ... i guess if it came down to it i could use that ...

crosses finger they just give me a pump .... cause I really dont wanna moved the whole sump out ... lesson learned ... either make your stand taller or ... you really dont need to get the biggest skimmer you can make fit ahahaha..

Nope the volute where it sucks in the air is number one for needing regular cleaning and the impeller and magnet are number two...other than the cup and neck of course. You can often get away with pouring some RO down the air intake but it still needs a proper cleaning now and then.

Now now we all made similar mistakes starting out sometimes we take our years of experience for granted and forget how many things we use to overlook.... like he said lesson learned.

Belive me he knows now impellers and pinwheels will get plugged ;) he had alot of choice words he used once he realised lol. Just look at it this way bigreefer now your one step closer to master reefer and you wont ever do that again :)

if its the bubble blaster pump... they hgave a three year warranty on them... I had the impellor magnet in my pump split and swell causing it to sieze in the pump block... called coral vue and explained that the shaft had swelled and had expanded into the pump block wall... they sent me an entire new pump.

turns out the pump block is still perfecctly fine so if anyone needs a bubble blaster 2000 pump... i got one :) you need a new impellor though.
