Well that settles it....im going to buy a nice camera this weekend and start doing some nice photos and a tank thread for my tank because i couldnt imagine this happeninng to me before i get my full wishlist complete for what i want to do with my tank . Kind of been taking it for granted i guess....now this thread has shown me to appreciate my tank now and do what i want to do with it now as well while i still can. This thread is very saddening even for me just reading it.....i cant imagine it ever being my tank and my thread but im sure the tables could turn. Thanks dwayne forhelping me see things in another perspective.

Hi Dwayne, just a quick thought do you use any hand sanitizers or wash your hands with a soap that contains sanitizers or have you been spraying any Lysol around the house just asking because its that time of year when people use these products in abundance and is the last thing most think of. Had this happen to a fresh tank when I lived with my girlfriend , she sprayed some Lysol and boom 30 to 60 min. I lost two fish. I also read somewhere this guy had the exact same thing that your are or have been experiencing. He was going out of his mind trying to figure out what was happening and it hit like bolt of lightning when he came home from shopping with the wife and it was winter or Flue season as was talking with wife while rubbing hand sanitizer all over his hands. Well it KILLS BACTERIA GOOD AND BAD and you have to watch out for some dish soap contains it as well.
If this maybe the cause carbon will not help Chemi Pure I don't think will help I think you will have to do major water change and get a fresh batch of bacteria going.

Just a thought, and something for some to think about.

All the best.

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate the input from everyone.

Not sure I really want to tell anyone what I did to stop the aggressive death toll that was going on inside my tank. Definitively DO NOT TRY THIS ON YOUR TANK !

Really.

After the odd fish loss I=and seeing strange spots on my Gem tang I had had enough.
Convinced that I was dealing with a tank wide bacterial infection I decided to treat with antibiotics. Nothing from the LFS though, something much more interesting.
I dosed 4 pills in total of Antibiotics given to a 100lb dog. It likely wiped out every bit of good bacteria as colours browned out soon afterwards and my skimmer continued to go crazy

I dosed one pill each day for 4 days, ground up into a fine powder and mixed well in a salt water slurry.

Results were easy to see and happened very quickly.

Not a single SPS RTN since the final dose. No fish loss since the dose.

Have several pieces that are still very slow STN but that is likely from the corals being so stressed out.

Lost many, many collector pieces and prize specimens but others have survived. Including my Orange passion which I am happy about.
Several frags of pieces I lost are plugging away in the frag tank, hopefully they keep on keeping on. Red planet, red dragon, Kryptonite torch and others.

So to sum up.

I havent given up
My tank is much lighter :) and I have space for things to grow in and maybe add

Will let it sit for a little while longer and start adding some new pieces back in

Thanks for listening

Dwayne

Very good to hear the RTN has stopped. I'm sure I am going to ask the question I would imagine is on everyone's mind.....what did you dose???

Why not give it a shot.... Better than watching everything die a slow death. Glad you were able to turn things around for the better.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.  Glad to hear that things are looking better.
