we need to rethink what we put in our tanks. we need to think of where and how these animals come to us. As a avid scuba diver for over 30 years all over north and central America, ive seen a lot of destruction to reefs.we all need to be conscious of what we buy and where the money goes. and its not the next guys problem, its every one that puts a coral or fish in a tank.
check this out
got it from the reef boutique's website.
we cant be part of the problem we have to be the start of a solution.
saving a couple bucks compared to what it costs in reef bio diversity is not worth it
I know most wont care but maybe some will change their ways and ask where they come from.
lets support conscious collection .
just a side note. 2 years of marine biology at the university of Florida. and never bought a fish from a store, always from people shutting down tanks same with corals.... always from other reefers or aquacultured.

Buying fish or coral from someone who is shutting down a tank is no different than buying from the store....

If I bought a a wild caught fish and you bought it from me. You're still taking on the same fish. It's just passed through one more set of hands. How does that remove any guilt from you? Just because you didn't drive to a brick and mortar store and pay for it over the counter yourself, doesn't wash it's origins clean and make it any less harmful from when it was originally taken from the ocean....

Aquacultured is slightly better but originally those came from the oceans too.... it helps with sustainability to a degree at best but due to the speed of our hobby, Aquacultured pieces will never be able to compete with imported items.

so you say do nothing well if someone don't buy that fish it dies or gets flushed then I have to buy from store and I never said don't buy from store read please I said we need to ask questions and not buy fish from places that have questionable practices. I say buy from reputable dealers that care enough to care about where things come from and how they are taken. its called environmentally conscious. just because its not in your backyard I guess it don't matter never said I was and angel just said we need to think about what we take and what we leave behind.
