Lighting Options For A 30x30x24 Cube.

Hi guys,

I am looking for lighting options for a 30x30x24 cube. I would prefer LED with minimal shadow effect and the aquascape will likely be inland/peninsula with a focus on SPS corals. It would be nice if I could use my existing APEX system for lighting control and I am hoping the fixture is aesthetically pleasing since it will be suspended over a rimless tank.

Right now, I am leaning towards a EcoTech Radion XR30w G3 Pro. Do you think this will suit my needs, especially for SPS coral growth in a tank this size? Would one be enough?

I think one Radion xr30w g3 pro would be adequate.

PM David_Caplan on here. I don't think he is too impressed with his lights and reeflink. maybe you can make a deal or he can tell you more about the issues he has had. I just bought a xr15 pro from Unibob and like the light a lot and programmed it with ecosmart live. I figure once you have the program loaded and you like it then why would you need to tinker with it?

Deeznutz was kind enough to send me his custom layout for his lights. I now have that loaded on mine and the corals are loving it. I wouldnt believe the change it has made.

Kevin Has the 30s and I have no idea what he has thinks of his yet.

I believe you can do day by day with ecosmart live.

I really hope so. I am leaning towards this light. The one thing that has always bugged me is that my last light didn't have this ability. I just want the lights to ramp up longer and earlier on a Saturday and Sunday so I can enjoy the tank longer while I am home. I'm surprised more people don't want this - I haven't been able to find an definite answer anywhere online.

I dont think you can program it by the day. every day is the same But you can ramp up the lights and ramp them down and create lunar effects and thunderstorms. But different daily programs?

Correct. You cannot do seperate day schedules. They are possibly looking to add this option. But as some also posted to my question.. Maybe not best idea as.... SPS (stability promotes success)
