Live Rock

How many pounds of live rock should I put in a 50 gallon I've heard 1.5 and also 3 lbs fish only and one with a few polyps already on the rocks

im a beleiver of 1-1.5 lbs per gallon,others see differently and have had sucess

yep 1- 1.5 I s good if you have sump you can pack it full to leave display clear

that's the rule that I use..it depends to on how you want to aquascape the tank..I am a big believer that depending on the fish you choose to provide them with lots of swimming room and places to hide..

if you want to save money get base rock and cure it ! I just ordered and received 80lbs of dry Pukani rock for my 90Gallon cube I am setting up.

I don't follow how many pounds ratio you need.

Pick the rocks you love and set them up. See what fits the tank best. Remember to factor in space for rocks that corals are on. Pick the style of rock for your aquascape to give you focus. So when you start you have an idea of how to set it up.

a 50g tank i would use 50-75lbs or more,and like someone mentioned if you have a large sump you can put plenty in it to free up space in your DT

imho I believe also 1 -1'5 the more dense the rock id go 1.5 or higher and very porous rock can stick closer to 1 lbs/gaallon

I love how all the advice he got was 1 - 1.5 lbs a gallon. Then he lets us know he's going to do 2-2.5 lbs a gallon. I have maybe 150 lbs in a 150 and I think it's less. I took out at least 40 lbs. not much point in loading the tank full of boulders. You get no flow that way

when I set up my first tank I loaded the tank with rock, after the first cleaning a lot of the rock came out. It is a preference/learning thing. some ppl like a lot in the tank, I have since learnt to keep it off the back wall, better flow, easier to clean, IMO..
