I agree. I thought Burc would be all over this one. I wonder if the AP ties might be a conflict of interest.. I wouldn't imagine it would be, but, you never know... It sure is a great way to get you known and sell a ton of stuff in one sitting.

Who knows.  The politics have been incredibly interesting and silly.  I think there's 0% chance that these people don't know about the event, and those that chose not to attend are, in my humble opinion, missing out.  However, everyone has 'gotta do what they gotta do', and I'm okay with that.

There may also be those with the 'let's see how the turnout is, and maybe next year' crowd.  Of course, preference will go first to those that came this year (oooh look at me starting my own politics already!) :)

I put a thread up on Michigan reefers but didn't get much feed back. I am available to help in anyway I can just let me know. I'm excited for this event!

If there is more interest, maybe a couple more tables down the middle? Or a rearrange of tables, where they are across in rows, instead of around the perimeter..... Just a thought....not trying to tell the coral nazi what to do.... Haha :)

IMO these events are going to bring SW Ontario reefers together on a much higher level..... It is going to be a major plus for hobbyists, vendors, and anyone into reefing in general......you can tell this by not only how excited people like us are getting but like salty pointed out, also the politics behind it all.....
The fact that the event is not limited to a specific part of the hobby is what is going to make it very interesting.....we will see aqua cultured, maricultured, dry goods, tshirts, demos, etc......it is truly open to anyone.....very good job salty.....not sure if anyone could have done a better job!

Reef Wholesale is doing a trade show setup in the center I think, and heck they paid for it so I'm letting them do whatever they want there really.  I'm hoping people flow in and around in an orderly fashion.  Did I mention there's going to be tarantulas and snakes at the swap?  Don't ask me why, but they'll be there!  :)

Good point salty! I remember the lansing expo was crazy packed!!! I had to wait until it died down a little to see everything.....I talked to a guy there who had attended a few now and he said that where they used to have it was just way too small and that was why they moved it to a conference center in a big hotel......apparently the year before according to him it was so packed that people had to wait outside until others left because it was at capacity. I told him that I couldn't imagine it being more packed than it is right now lol.....I couldn't believe the turn out there....and I don't think my wife could either lol.....suddenly I wasn't the only reef geek around...... Haha
It really opened her eyes as well to just how large the hobby is.....

Yep, it is a -slight- concern of mine, but people waiting to get in will just increase demand...limited supply always does.  And if it's big I'd likely move it to the lamplighter on Wellington, I'm actually doing a trade show there in 3 weeks.  However, the cost is considerably higher... but the capacity would be 3x as much.  If this is a hit I'll take down everyone's info for next year and promise to move it.

However, that's why I am hoping to have good room behind the tables for my vendors, I want everyone comfortable and not claustrophobic.  I'd rather have less vendors than angry sweaty ones :)

LOL I know that you have done some excellent planning and I was not suggesting that we won't have enough room by any means.....I was just saying that even a coral expo like that one can have issues and such so I don't think we will have anything to worry about.....if the legion is at capacity come June 1 then that means we did something right :) I think we got a great start for the first London fragfest...... Can't wait for June 1

This is how MACNA started... Way back in the day (In Toronto I might add)

I think that Ontario needs something like this. We need to be able to start pulling all the clubs, forums, hobbiests together to events. Then, maybe we can bring Macna back to where it started!

There's always the bar downstairs, I think that will be good for overflow, and the outside area too.  Should be good.  We'll see tomorrow :)

Remember to not wear a hat in the legion bar.  You will be buying a round if you do.

I'm going to be bringing them a lot of business, I think they may be a bit lax on the hat rule.  Besides, those old fellers are tough, but they can't drink like they did in '45 :)

Would it be wrong to switch the recepient of the charity mid-stride?

The B&G club was so flip about getting money, I sort of looked into it, and somehow they are really well funded now (didn't use to be).  Whereas the London food Bank always struggles.  Or hell, Don Cherry makes a really good case for the kidney foundation of Canada?

I just don't know if it's bad form to switch.  I just want the money to do the most good.    thoughts?

Maybe look into the childrens museum.  They even have a freshwater tank in there.  I think it is good if the money can go towards kids somehow.
