[/quote]If Im lucky I will have one or two ORA pearlberry, hawkins and tyree purple monster frags there.  If I give them away I may have none to sell.  These are colonies I can't buy....it has taken years of growth to even get to the point of being able to sell frags.  As for the jack-o-lantern lepto....well that one I paid $700 for a 1.5" piece not that long ago...its maybe 2.25" now.  I dont think I will be fraging that one up for a raffle give away.  Again not a colony I have ever seen for sale at a LFS.

I do want to do something though.  I just have some reservations about raffling off livestock which could potentially put some rare, expensive and hard to keep corals into the hands of someone who only spent a few bucks and is possibly not prepared to keep them thriving.

I thought about this for a while and I think I will offer a $200 frag bucks credit.  That way the person who wins can pick whether they want expensive/rare corals, or more medium corals, hard to keep corals or easy beginner corals.  More choice the way I see it.  I will also make it retro active if the winners wants.  I assume the raffle is near the end of fragfest so if the winner wants I can also reimburse them for any purchase they made at the event with me.

That is a kicker too....does the raffle winner have to be present?  Meaning more people will be hanging around till the end?  I'm curious because I know we are limited to what 200 people and we have 50 coming as vendors from what I remember.

I can't see how I can do it unless the person is present, perhaps not in the room, but there is extensive area open in the lower bar/lounge, and a large covered area outside.  I think I would send a runner to those areas before pulling another ticket.  So potentially there could be more than 200 peeps present. 

I'm going to see if I can wire a mic to a guitar amp for the announcements so that there's no chance people can't hear the numbers.  I think the draws will be at 3 or 3:30 depending on turnout and what people have left for stock.  I mean if we can sell off everyone's items, we'll raffle off and head home

I completely understand what you're saying Darryl. I wouldnt want to give away fome premo SPS frags to someone that is running insufficient lights or tank equipment, etc that isn't prepared to handle them. A credit is definitely a better idea as you do have a great selection of LPS, zoas, etc as well. Big props to all these sponsors and their donations. It is truly awesome to see and will be doing a lot of good for charity!  8)

As for raffles, I think 3 to 3:30 is a fair time as I'm sure not everyone will want to stick around right to the end of the event. Maybe have a cut off time at 3pm and draw shortly afterwards. It's definitely going to be a lot of trial and error this first time around just because there is no way of knowing just how many people will actually show. There are a pile of great vendors! The event will be a hit with fragtank members without a doubt. But the unknown is how many people outside of that. Only time will tell if it will be more, less or as much as planned, but, it is a great way to find out!!! Super excited to attend!!!!!

That's the way I thought it was going to work, but I could be wrong.  There is not a tonne of coral being offered for raffle prizes, myself and Fragalot (which is doing his as a package) is the only people doing it.

So that would be 6 boxes for actual coral prizes (as I would prefer to have my pieces separated, so people can decide on what corals they would like to bet on based on there aquarium keeping experience/tank setup)

But, I am not sure....Salty? 

I can get the gf to make up a few boxes.

Yea. I'm not sure, it definatly would depend on how much coral was donated.
Maybe make 3 boxes : a beginner, intermediate and expert.

I plan on donating something but I have mainly beginner/ intermediate corals.

That was my only concern, what to put the tickets in.  I have no problem with you doing it that way for sure.  I think I'm just going to get some carboard raffle boxes from staples or something.

Yeah, tickets in for each item, otherwise people may get stuff they can't use or don't want, and we don't want that.  Not as much fun

Thats how they do it at the wifes fundraisers.  ..they have boxes in front of prizes. And they sale the tickets that have 2 rows of same numbers  And ppl buy tickets and put the one side in there chocie  But that was at meal fundraisers    Were we did the draws after the meals b4 l lefr.  So they left tickets with someone and left the nae on them.  ..but will everyone say around to ait for the draw?....so if they leave and there not present with coral yu gonna throw the ticket out andnpick again?

Don't raffle then all off at once ? Just an idea . Maybe do one every hour or something along those lines. I'm staying all day so it really doesn't matter to me.

Start with the one that has the most entries?  That way people who don't want to stay, who we're only gunning for something specific can take off ? Just ideas.
