Hey all. So ive had some issues with my gravity fed fuge. I had some nice display macro and some grape/razor caulerpa. The caulerpa grew way to quick and started to attach to the rocks. Now im trying to remove it all and seperate the filter side of the fuge from the display side, but the rocks are overgrown with the caulerpa. How can i best get rid of it. Its through the rocks and everywhere. I dont mind re-curing the rock if need be.

So should i....
A) bleach the rock and then re-cure for a few weeks till the macro has melted off
B)do a 1/10 hydrogen peroxide dip on the rocks and recure for a few days till the macro has cleaned up?
C) enter your alternative suggestion here

I also plan to use only chaeto on the LHS moving forward and adding sand and nicer macro and mangroves on the RHS

You could spray it with Hydrogen Peroxide and put it right back into your tank which kills the algae but is harmless to your tank (has only hydrogen and oxygen molecules in it.)

My worry about putting it directly back in is the ammount of algae on the rocks. Pic is one of the rocks but therea another 5 or 6 smaller ones with lots of algae on it. Dumping that much dead gunk cant be good. I figure a mini cureing would lessen it atleast

How about pulling it out of the tank pull off as much as you can and then squirt some peroxide on any remaining stem or root.... Won't be out long enough to hurt the live rock

How about removing one rock at a time and cleaning it. Waiting for the die off and place it back into the tank. Will take more time but won't be as big of a shock if you did it all at once .

I'm not too worried about the lac of liverock in my fuge. I have 80+ lbs in my display and a HOB filled with Matrix. I'm worried about the algae dying in the display and spiking nitrate/phosphate. If I remove all the live rock from my fuge, its less then 5-10% of the BB in my tank.
That being said. I would do all but the rock seen in the pic, and see how it goes. The roc in the pic is the most porous and life filled piece in the fuge. the rest are rocks I couldn't find a nice place for and are fairly dense pieces.
So I think tonight I'm going to spray the rest of the pieces with peroxide, and let sit in fresh SW for one week and see if any nitrates/phosphates spike.
