I won't argue that lps seem to thrive more in a not so ULNS but so will other algaes too, no? I just don't see how it is possible to keep a nice reef tank long term without striving for an ULNS. I have found that LPS adapt to the ULNS and this is why it is nice to have LPS pieces with good lineage in ULNS systems so that you know it will do ok without needing a dirtier tank. I consider myself to have an ULNS and all my lps seem to do ok in there. I do find however that I need to direct feed them. But I also feed my sps....just not directly.

Keep the nutrients low, feed quality foods and don't overfeed, good lighting, carbon, GFO, and you can keep a system long term without problem algae.
ULNS can completely strip nutrients such as po4 and no3 which are both necessary to have in a reef tank therefore you will have to dose them, then the trick is getting all the doses correct, If you don't mind buying all the expensive chemicals and following a strict dosing regimen then go for it, personally I don't think it's necessary, there are a lot of TOTM on RC that are not ULNS, and some that tried it and went back to the old school.
You should join the Zeovit forum and you will see it's not working for everybody.

Yes, but every approach has failed for some..... So it's not fair to just say that about the zeo system.
Personally I aim for undetectable po4 and nitrate..... You don't really have to dose po4 and nitrate IMO because is this (especially po4) not present in most foods?? I have found that po4 is especially high in PE mysis..... My friend that runs full zeo does not dose po4 and no3 specifically as he also aims for absolute zero at all times. Problem becomes that eventually you do have to feed your corals or fish (in his case he has no fish lol) and this is where the po4 will come from. In most cases I think the po4 is introduced thru nsw mix and food being fed....
Also, there are lots of people using the KZ products that are not running a full zeo system.... A lot of people use the amino acids, pohls extra, coral snow, zeobak, potassium, etc.... And are not following the full zeo system.....I don't think that these products are only for if you are using the full zeo system but rather if perhaps you are attempting an ULNS in another way.

I want to also add that I believe a successful reef is all about keeping a strict routine and you can't sum up how to keep a RC TOTM is just a couple sentences lol. Also, are the KZ products really that much more expensive, especially if you have a small system? Look at the price of GFO and other things....

Not trying to argue with you, but C,N, and P are essential to life, you can"t have a system with 0 po4 and 0 no3, I use KZ LPS amino acids, but I'm not sure what your getting at, you asked if Zeolite was the same as biopellets and it is not, they both use bacteria to export N and P, they can't export one or the other, they have to export both, unfortunately they export more no3 than po4 so you still may have to have some additional means of exporting po4 depending on your system.
