Looks like we are buying a new house, and I really think it will be tough to move the tank and live stock in one day on top of everything else in the house.
I think I might sell all my corals, fish, and inverts. Keep the tank, stand, lights, rock and all other hardware. Kinda sucks but I think it will be the easier and then just restart in a few months.

Didn't you just set it up less than 6 months ago?

Just get the new house a few months early and keep both places and move in slowly

Ya it's been running for about 5 months. We don't want to carry 2 mortgages. We wI'll have the buy and see close on the same day hopefully. Re setting up the tank and moving 200 gallons of water on the same day along with moving evey thing in the house seems like a big task.

just have a 15 day lap, you can move everything in that time. Heck request that you'll take the new house but you need to have one car bay empty 15 days before possession where you can store your aged water and tank.

A couple weeks before then just when you're doing water changes keep the waste water in containers.

Or tell then you need to have them empty the In ground pool early before possession and fill it up with ro and salt

I can't see any issues

If I get a house before you I'll store the tank at my place. But I'm poor so no pool or attached garage in my future :(

True. You could get the bank to bridge the mortgage. Not too expensive. Worth weighing options vs scrapping everything you have already done. Mind you, setting up is a good chunk of the fun.

Awwhh, saddened to see you have to go this route, possibly we can band together and hold your fish and corals for you while you get settled? I'd hold some for you if that's an option. Just a thought as manuel suggested.

I bridged my mortgage the last time i moved and hat a 10 day over lap. it makes moving and cleaning way easier and it didn't cost very much, I think it was under $500.

Great to hear that you are getting a new house. Congratulations there. It is a big step for anyone. It always is more work and headaches then you can plan for. I have moved over 10 times throughout my life, thanks to a mother who always transferred for promotions. We all know the massive work for switching over a tank, let alone to move one, let alone while you are already dealing with a move. Even with an overlapped mortgage. There are also all the risks of loss at that point. It does hurt to sell all the livestock, but I agree that it the best decision over all at this point. I would plan on doing the same personally.

Congrats on the new house. I think your idea of shutting it down will be the easiest, so you can focus on the move. You should see if you can't just rent space in members tanks by giving them frags to store your prized corals. We should all have our coral backed up in other tanks so if something goes wrong we dont kill it all, and it is better for coral conservation. Then at least you won't have to start from nothing. Good luck.

Congratulations on the house...

I have moved and set up so many systems and with fish and softies no issue but honestly in hind sight I should have just sold off my SPS and Chalices before doing my tank change. Better your favourites go to other tanks than watch them die off as you rush to get something set up with so much real life stuff to deal with...killing your livestock will sour what should be an exciting experience...
