so im having a bit of an issue with my millies. they are all very colourful and very healthy looking with no stn or any nibbles anywhere from pests and no gha near them but i have zero pe on all my millies. I thought water was off maybe and no everything is where i normally have it. all my acros are doing amazing at the same level and i even have digis at that level doing good which has me puzzled.

Has anyone else had this issue with millies and no pe when everything else is loving life? If so what was it that was causing your issue? There is obviously something im overlooking so help me bang my head off the wall lol

What are your water parameters specifically? If its not a fish or something else nipping at them, its probably something to do with the water or something that has changed with your parameters. Have you changed anything recently? Dosed anything? Done a large volume water change? Swapped out any type of media? Typically when things are good, milles have ridic polyp extension. I always worry when my milles are off as it is typically a sign something is amiss.

i have 45x turnover lol lots i need it for my non photo gorgs.

nothing changed all params where they have been for two years

What colors are they and how much flow?

colours are how they should be and very bright but zero pe...... bubbletip nem, monti digi and caps, acros, birdsnest, non photo gorgs, zoos all doing good. I do have strong flow for my gorgs but even the millie shielded from strong flow is the same.

Ya im thinking thats what it is since millies are pigs of sps and eat alot.... gorg is fine the but past week ive upped my fuel amount to 1.5x recommended a week from 1.25 and on top of that i dont rinse mysis and i have been adding my amino and hufa supplement as well reccently after it started.... saw a couple feeders after target feeding so will continue target feeding for a bit if that helps guess im gonna be using more fuel lmao. I do think its either underfeeding or too much flow but everything is happy so more towards the need more food.

This is exactly why i want nitrates to register but is becoming impossible for me im about to throw in a fish just to rot lmao

Just did a water test with another persons test kits and same readings all around so thats not it either fml lol then again if thats my only worry im pretty good.

By the way millies are a pink a forrest fire and a fire and ice very colourful tho just no pe for a couple weeks now hoping its just hungry

Typically milles like high flow, so I doubt its the flow (if your other corals have fine PE). I would do a check for AEFW, not to scare you, but from what I've read they especially have an affinity for milles. Better to be safe than sorry. Do they have good PE during lights out? You may be onto something with the nutrients, typically milles like/tolerate water that is a bit more nutrient rich compared to other acros. If that were the case though, I'd expect to see some of your other corals (montis especially) looking pale. What are your water parameters specifically and what test kits?

I find my Pink or yellow Milli like higher light then then the other colors. I find they like strong random flow and to be right under my lights or the polyps don't come out like they should.

Id def dip one or 2 of the millis to eliminate the option of pests.

I am also lacking PE on Millie's when before I had a ton. I recently changed 3 t5 bulbs out on my display. They say new bulbs can have 5x the par of old bulbs.... They are turning a bit pale, but PE seems to be returning a bit except on sunset Millie.

I have moved light up several inches now.

Have you done anything to your lighting system recently?

I test alot so everything stays pretty well there.

These levels were recommended as optimum by a marine biologist and does wonders for sps growth. Definately isnt water lol people would kill to maintain what i do lmao. Ps if your montis are pale main reason aside frpm light is low mag and iodide you should see my pinks blues purples and reds they are electric but then again all my stuff is lol no brown or white in my tank anywhere

I use api tests salifert for mag but my buddy ol pal has the entire salifert regime lol both kits registered the same for everything except me and him share the iodide and strontium so only did those once.

I try to stay all natural since i dont know what the long term side affects are of anything in the chemical makeup.... some things seem like a great idea but may throw my whole system off balancecant do that for sure but good thinking can say i never heard that one before

Didnt change anything till after it started. Was w25 b80 rb 75 for the past 4.5 months but put back to my primo setting w15 b75 rb70 as that was first assumption. My tank is actually 60x turnover once moving but my powerhead setting completely reverses flow every 30 seconds so the bit in between it drops thats why i only consider 45x turnover... is damn hard to keep big bushy gorgs algae free they are like algae nets they catch verything floating around lol.

I check once a month in multiple spots in my tank pulling random plugs checking the bottoms. That is where they normally start before a problem breaks they hide from the light so closest place to coral base is where they usually hide during day or undersides of coral. Havnt found a thing just a couple colonista snails but they are few and far between.

I will keep upping my feeding of reef roids.... eventually it has to start registering just going slow and steady so i dont overdue it lol

well i really am absolutely pickled at whats causing it i cant add anymore fuel than 1.5x recommended or it will cause other things to rise soo all i can do is add more amino acids and reef roids which is scary so gonna try to do 3 feedings a week instead of two. some people would be sick if they saw my water after feeding its literally murky lmao but they love it..... i tried dipping 3 acros all 3 millies and a few other random sps to see if i could get anything to fall off that i couldnt see onthem and not a damn thing but a couple pods twitching as they die lol.
