Hard to be choosie when they are pretty well the only game in town. If I ever go in and see something I want (rare) I have to interrupt the young guy ask him the price then tell him what I'll pay.

Then he takes it or counter offers. I take it or get lost. The father wanders around and has no idea what the price is of anything plus he has no negotiating power.

If you don't interrupt the kid he'll chat friends all day ignoring you.

I've found you have to assess the situation either deal with it or not. There are several places that I'll never deal with on principle alone.

When I get the feeling I'm an inconvenience or doing them a favour to give them my money I bounce

Same experiences for me, prices aren't posted on certain things and vary from day to day depending what he says. Probably the most unorganized store I've been in.

Just fyi...it's bubble magus not bubble magnus.

I've never been a fan of them, I think all their stuff is absolute shit. The only saving grace here is that Unibob will help you out. Without that, the company is a complete joke.

The reef octopus I bought after I dumped my magus POS has run without a hiccup, and without as much as cleaning the pump, for something like 2-3 years. That's insanely good. I'm sure I just jinxed myself, but I would buy another octopus in a second.

All that said, I have no knowledge at all of this Cambridge store, so not a commentary on them. Still, GO BEANBAG! :)

Not really, it's just that people keep buying this crappy product, and they KEEP breaking (my issuse were all pump related too), and with mine there was absolutely no way to replace the motor short of buying a new unit, and the company doesn't sell replacements (I did manage to find a replacement pump on ebay and it broke in exactly the same way the first did). The impellers would shatter, and I mean shatter to bits, if you tried to use the one with the foam insert (the one with a ton of fingers wouldn't shatter but it would fill with snail shells). It's just not a good product and someone should point out that there are good alternatives for not much more money.

Well he is called "Salty" Cracker,

I wish there was a sticky with maybe a list of great and not so great products based on past experiences. then maybe us newer people in the hobby would have some sort of reference to what is good or bad and the issues they may have.

This might even increase site traffic and be useful?

Actually that's not a bad idea. Probably set us up for heavy litigation, but we don't have site sponsors that can tell us "hey don't bash [____] product, I sell a bunch of it!!!"

If it's shitty, it's shitty, that said, sometimes the cost savings is worth it. I don't think that's the case with BM, but that's just my own opinion, some people may have had great luck with them (doubt it).

I know the older models were known to have crappy pumps, but they have since switched to better ones. Maybe unibob could chime in with specifics. I had a curve 7 with newer pump for 6 months before i sold it (only because i switched to fw), and it performed much better than my vertex.

The situation has been dealt with and a new impeller is on route to me.
I stand behind product lines I sell and will continue to do so and help where I can even if not purchased from me.

I'll have more info for everyone tonight on specifics that lead to me getting involved :)

Most stores don't even order outside what is stocked anymore so the fact that they special ordered it is a blessing on its own. There's probably more than one reason why they don't use their products. As for bubble Magus never owned one but my reef oct has never been cleaned in over 2 years and not even a scratch on my impeller. Personally I have been going here ever since I started and always had good service.
