Ok, so I have been working away on my new aquascape and have finalized my construction idea. What I wanted to take into consideration is that I didnt want any of my frags to grow any larger than 3" and I wanted the ability to remove any frag/colony at anytime without having to chisel away at the base LR. So I have created the following.
Materials
-----------
2" frag disc
3" frag disc
3/16" acrylic rod
Cg glue
Marco Rock
Firstly, I constructed the Marco Rock base and glue 3" discs in the pre-desired locations for frags/colonies; this will be my base LR tree.
Next, I cut the 3/16" acrylic rod into several small posts no thicker than the frag discs themselve.
Next I glued a post in the centre of each of the 3" discs on the LR base.
Next, I cut 3/16" holes in the centre of each 2" disc.
Then I took more 3" discs and glued acrylic posts in multiple locations and drilled a centre hole. These posts will be used to mount the 2" discs in various arrangements. The centre hole will allow me to mount this disc to any of the 3" base LR discs.
Ultimately, this allows me to position any 3" disc with many 2" disc configurations anywhere in my display. Each time a 2" or 3" disc grows out, I can remove it, frag it and replace it in any desired locaiton.
I also do not have to glue any frag or colony directly to the base LR. The posts keep the frags/colonies in place without having to worry about any ROBO snail that thinks he can move it/knock it off
