Hi guys I'm wanting to change over to LEDS , I'm running T5'S right now, What I'm looking for is a LED light that I can program on timers so have them slowwwwwly coming on, All i've seen in my search are 3 channels that just come on. I think I'm after a light with just blues and whites, This is going over a 90 gallon tank with many corals. the LED can be a 2pcs, That I'm not to worried about. But must have multiple timers, to have the LEDS turning on slowly during the day.
Any help would be great, I will have a look at any LEDS lights you can suggest.
Thanks for the help!!!!!

Can't beat the reef breeders photon, it does the sunrise and sunset and they make a 4ft model perfect for a 90

heres a video showing the controller on the photon, if thats something your really into your either going to have to do brand name or buy a controller to go diy with dimming and stuff. i dont have one so i cant say much about it except if i was to buy a fixture this is the one i would buy myself, theres some extensive threads on reef central about these lights and the price for teh 48" unit is very reasonable. theres so many options and price ranges so i guess it boils down to what you want to spend and what features in a light your looking for

You did!  Yeah that was a great kit, what did you use for a heatsink?

I def liked the all-in-one power supply over the 8 or 10 drivers I'm using, except I guess that if it goes down, they all go down.  But easier replacement too.

I will say that the splashguard cut down my burnouts by 99.5%.  I thought they just burned out quick, but it turns out the salt splash will really wreck them.

I was looking into DIY LED and got some recommendations from Tom (TDB320reef)..
He has been playing with LED over his large reef for the last few years too.

He sent me a PM..

Honestly Id imitate the Reef breeders value fixture layout but would change a few things.  Id add 4 660nm reds instead of 2 Go with 4 420nm insteadd of 6 and add 2 520nms and with the whites  I d go with  3 - 4k 3 - 6.5k and 3 - 10K.  Id add a 580  Nm yellow and with his royal blues go 18 RB and 10 blues.  That would be one sick fixture.

You should be able to order these direct from china with the above costume layout.  They are not apex dim-able but I heard the 2014's might be.

I was considering something like this for my new build versus an ATI fixture

Abut three minutes in the goof in the video goes over his LED setup.  I hate that guy.  He's so smug with his oh-so-perfect sps growth.

There's no arguing his results!  I was actually just reading through a couple of his threads on ReefCentral over the past few days.  His new LED/MH combo is looking pretty slick.

Ah, okay, so he's running MH&LED...

Because for just LED, you can't take away the 420 spectrum like he is saying.  Plus, reds are just plain not needed.

I think he *was* doing LED only for a couple years.  This is the thread about his combo setup:

And it looks like he still has 420 in that layout above?  Looks like way too much white though IMO...

Anyways back on topic: I will always recommend DIY!  The Rapid LED kits look cool.  They have a good selection of colours it seems.  I personally went with LEDGroupbuy for my LEDs, and a custom slotted heatsink from HeatsinkUSA.  If I could do it over I would probably get the whole shebang from LEDgroupbuy, the slotted heatsink + splash guard, end caps and hanging kit looks super slick and that kit comes out to about the same as what I spent on the heatsinks alone from the other source, so it's kind of a wash.  Only thing about the LEDGroupBuy heatsinks though is that they are a bit more narrow than the ones I went with.

Ledgroupbuy has those 100watt chips that are controllable. They look super easy to wire up plus they have multiple colours in each chip. 1 of those on a makers led heatsink kit x2 and you would be good to go.

I went with the aqua style LEDs and my corals are growing like champs. I havnt tried SPS yet though only a red monti but my lobo and open brain are still beautiful, flame tip anenome is bigger than ever and of course me torches and hammers have split a few times. Plus with DIY it's super easy to change the colour if you don't like what you end up with.

Just my two cents
