Well I'm not happy with my acrylic tank is working out. All kinds of little scratches already.
I have no idea how to remove them without draining the tank. Obviously I don't want to do that so I'd prefer to go to another tank in GLASS. Must be 60 Gallon: 48″ x 13″ x 24″ drilled with overflow. Any idea where I can get one. They all seem to come without overflows. I don't want to be drilling my own tank and make an overflow. As its much easier to buy one with a warranty.

I hope you only used mag cleaner specifically meant for acrylic!! The regular ones will carve up acrylic but they sell special versions of the mag float just for acrylic. They are a different colour than the ones meant for glass.

I think Duke uses a magic eraser which I have started loving too that and a scraper made of a block of acrylic and you will be good to go.

My 200gal acrylic has been going for over 20.years now and I have only polished it once.

BTW if you want to have a go at polishing it out without emptying the tank, get some 6000 grit micro mesh and polish away. If it is just light hazing and micro scratches you should be able to do it without too much effort.

Honestly, I have never bothered with acrylic for small.tanks because they are so cheap the glass is basically disposable. However when it came to spending larger dollars I wanted something with lifetime seams and that was repairable because with glass you are just one oops away from permanently damaging your large investment. No matter how careful I have been, stuff happens and every glass tank gets scratched too but in that case it's permanent. I have one good sized scratch on the front of my glass 180gal and all I an think of when I look at it is "I wish that was acrylic, I could just polish that out."

The problem is the scratches are somewhat deep. The mag cleaner I use is smaller. (for glass) but has a smooth pad on the opposite side that won't scratch acrylic. My daughter was playing with it and must have picked up some grains of sand. To fix tank it will have to be emptied out and palm sanded starting from 400 or 600 grit upto 2000 in stages. That's what I did before I started it up. I'm likely going to switch to glass and polish the acrylic. Then likely sell it.

On a completely different note , I have a 72gal bowfront 48*13(18 in the middle)*24 tank, black stand with glass door and a top that I need to sell. It is bottom drilled but needs the overflow sealed in. If you are interested I could actually get off my butt and get it done....

Picking up some sand under the mag float is exactly how my wife (I'm sure it wasn't me) scratched the front of my glass tank....

Seriously the acrylic safe mag floats are blue not grey and seem to be safe but recently tried putting a thin slice of magic eraser under the mag and it is great on both glass and acrylic.
