Re: Neo's 120gal Mixed Reef

A Couple things have been updatde on my system.  I got an APEX controller installed for the basic functionality so far with parts avaliable to build my own Input Box for it.  Need the box before I can wire up float and manual toggle switches.

I ran into an issue with the APEX when it arrived.  Everythign was good excpet for the display unit had a severed cord so it was basically useless.  Not really too much of issue as you can set these things up with out having the display unit.  Anyways they are sending me a new display which I will be mounting upstairs on the Display tank.  Heres a pic of the installation downstairs.

That other box next to the base unit is the thing used to put the controller on the net wirelessly.  My router is across the house so running a cable was out of the question.  That little box can be had at futureshop for about 30 bucks.  Works with xbox as well :)

I also did the London Fish Store circuit today and left from each store with something.

From Sealife wI grabbed some corals and some coral dip.  On a sadder note,  Pickles the Ferret is no longer going to reside at the store.  I know many children will be heartbroken.  Heres what I got:

My leather, kinda looks like a fast and lazy acro.

a little Ricordia thing

And a Candy Cane

From box of water I picked up a goby and shrimp combo, and my 3year old talked me into a Wild Grandma Basslet.  So I named it Nicki after my mother in law.  These fish disappeared the second they hit the water so I do not have pics of them.

The Goby is a high fin goby and I also got a tiger pistol shrimp.  Hopefully they can find each other in my 120gal.

From Incredible I nabbed a couple tangs and a small frag of SPS.  The SPS is an experiment to see how it does in the tank.

Its not the powder brwn I was after but is still a gorgeous fish IMO.

Here is what i did with the frags from the swap. And a few other random pics.

See what a single red LED will do to an orange clown... It Turns Red.... this is a mild case.

All in all a fun/expensive day.

Thanks,  I need a mini din 8 cable in order to get my float switches and stuff all working.  Cant find them anywhere, they are the old mac serial cables as well.

The fish are doing great from what i can tell... they are all eating everything from pellets to brine to flakes and roasted nori.  There is no aggression in the tank between the tangs at all.  However, that Hi Fin goby I can never find has made its way down to the basement  3 times already.  I thought they were supposed to stay on the bottom and away frm my over flows lol.  And he is so small that there is nothign i can put up that will keep him out and not restrict the flow through the overflow.

hi fins are bitches man.

i lost a high fin and a yasha (closely related) a couple days after getting them. They are jumpers and escape artists. I would put  a lid on that tank asap cause that guy will be on your floor soon. You will need to double up on the brs clear netting if you are using that. Both of mine jumped through the holes in that netting.

they will jump through eggcrate no problem. Like i said you need to take the brs netting and use two overlapped layers creating a gap only a pen tip can get through.

they are small sleek fish that are notorius jumpers.
