Be prepared to sell your old one off dirt cheap. I tried and nobody messaged me. Im my opinion its not worth it
Maybe you just didn't try right. I have had offers as far as Alberta already. Just not sure if I will have the available money in my toy account for what is looking like a month now

Some of you guys are seeing this wrong. Take the marketing out of it for a second, and imagine there was no such thing as Apex. THen it hit's the market for the first time with 3 models. Silver, Gold, Platinum. Silver the Classis Jr., Gold the Gold, and the Platinum the new top one. There is nothing obsolete about the "classic". It has less features. No different than a car coming in base form, or then upgraded packages offering more features. It's not going anywhere at all. So for those that want to pay $1220 with tax, they can go ahead. For those that want new "classic", they can spend $840 tax in. Or you can spend approx $550 or so on a used Apex gold that is going no where. Guys are paying $400 USD all day long for these. There will be more than enough people who don't want to spent $1200 bucks. It will open an entirely new demographic of new owners for controllers who either couldn't afford, or simply couldn't justify spending $800 plus, or certainly not $1200.

Honestly, I still haven't figured out why I would change for a new APEX. Mine functions very well and I will be looking for more eb8's.

I'm just on the hunt for a "classic" PB8.

Funny thing is..... There were a couple of cheap ones on eBay which are sold.

There's nothing wrong with the "classic" apex, and I doubt I'll be dumping it for the new and unproven "platinum package"

Nope nothing wrong with a flip phone either, but it's old technology. Nothing wrong with obsolete technology either we all can't afford the newest stuff.

I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to spend that little bit extra to get the monitored outlets, this will monitor equipment failure and equipment not performing up to par. extra probes PH, Salinity, that are double jacked for protection and all lab grade are really worth the extra.

If you think about the amount of money tied up in livestock the extra $600 for the added features pay for themselves in a year. The alternative is to throw away $600 on the "classic" Apex

Plus upgrade ability, it will last years not year

Well, let's see.

I have 3 eb8, 2 lab grade ph probes, pm1 etc etc.

If you actually pay attention to the readings on the system, you will know when something acts up.

I might switch in a year once all the bugs are out of it.

Do YOU have an apex?

Yes I was.

The new features in my opinion, are untested, with a huge downside risk to be an early adopter. Losing the new eb8, with all its integration, could spell disaster.

My "old" apex works great, and the hardware and operating system has been proven reliable by thousands and thousands of apex owners.

I'm in no rush. It seems everyone is looking for all the bells and whistles in new toys. The system you are providing for is in between the glass. It's the little ecosystems we create that make the hobby amazing.

All the other stuff helps.

But how much money can we afford to throw at technology. I'm reaching my limits of what I am willing to spend. I have great gear. Now I'm just really selective. For now, the new apex is t on the list.

You can't see why? How have you configured your APEX?

I have the same concern about the new EB8. The question about it has been asked in a few forum posts I have come across, and no one answers. Would be cool if those parts were internal sort of modules be swapped out. Can you imagine one thing goes wrong and you are told you have to send in your existing unit? Have fun with that.

I'd like to hear more answers, and for sure wait a while for any bugs to be worked out. In the meantime, we can enjoy the new probes, the new software interface (could care less about the APP). I've said it more than a few times. This thing came so out of left field while they seemingly abandoned the FMM and COR when posts from their VP less than a few months ago were still saying June Launch for it, and now it's on the back burner, and here we are with a whole new APEX.

If you are pro apex and have one and support the product then I see no reason to not be confident in their new technology?

If you don't want to upgrade fine, The classic is obsolete "look up the definition" it doesn't mean worth nothing, but it is worth less.

I would never but an obsolete computer, tv or other electronic, but like I said before that doesn't mean they still don't preform and maybe do everything that you could ever desire.

I have been looking and comparing these units and apex has not sold me on its value and it appears like you either.
