My daughter is hooked on unboxing videos on YouTube so i took some photos of some new lights i bought to try out on my frag tank. I ordered them Sunday night from ebay. I was pleasantly surprised to see them at my door two days later and including a confirmation email of your order received, processed and when it was shipped, something i like to see from online retailers. ;-)

Now i did a bit of research on these and you can mod them to allow for dimming through your Apex to simulate many of the things you see on high end led lights (thunderstorms for example). The downside is you can only dim them to 10% as the lowest setting but for me that's perfect.

I haven't put them up yet but when i turned only one of the two on it was on full actinic my entire fish room went blue.

In terms of size i intend to hang these over a 4x4 flood table (think hydroponic) that i have setup.

They were very well packaged and professionally shipped.

In terms of their light itself, 165 total watts I'm not sure what the usable wattage is they normally crank it down to make them last longer. Demensions are also in the photos below, i must say it is a pretty looking light. I run ocean revive T247's on my main tank and these are just as pretty looking as those for a Chinese LED.

The worst part of this was i was totally planning on using acid on these :p

Finally a few of them lit up in the room. The true test comes after putting them up on the tank and seeing how things grow. I am looking forward to not having to replace t5 bulbs anymore and I'm already convinced from my main tank you can grow out almost anything you want from LED lights. I used to run MH but would never go back... especially those that have mostly LPS, zoas and softies.

Awesome, I am planning to start my 220 with these. If I upgrade I can use them for frag tanks, coral QT going forward! Let us know if there are any problems with them, ever :)

I've been running 1 of them over the 44g for over a year now, upgrading to the 300w soon, haven't had a single issue with it yet, doesn't promote algae growth when cranked, currently- blues 100%. Whites/full spectrum 55%, grows coral like mad and makes them "POP" even better, he's gonna love em'

Few more photos comparing the lights vs my ocean revive. I tried to ensure they were at the same height and intensity , the new light was about 3/4" Lower than the other two but i was to lazy to adjust it to be exact.

First few photos are old and new at 100 percent white and blue. I do find the new light too white and too blue, but they can be dimmed.
Doing the par readings now

New light on the left in the tank photos, right on the fish room photo.

Par readings are in using my Apex Par Rock :)

At 17" from the light into the tank it was just over 650

ea3a1bff211b4c87f23d109452308614.jpg

At 21" from the bottom of the light it was around 400

74d75463ac89910b39a0b655cdfbae84.jpg

And at the bottom of the tank to the bottom of the light, which was just over 25" it dropped to 190

Now the question is which ones do i keep on my display :). Going to do a mod to control them from their Apex so guess it depends which are easier to do that with

Very nice. Beautiful tank great growth and colour something that I hope one day I may get even 50% as nice.

But may I ask why you have new lights?

Never mind re-read, dimmable, leds no more T5 bulbs.

Great stuff
