Everythig was great looking yesterday, i came home from the hospital this aft to find my strawberry shortcake like this!! measured my alk cause i immediately assumed alk, and its right where its always been 7.8. And everything else seems normal.. any ideas ladies and gentleman?
Mine swings about the same. But not sure. I just looked in my tank and my purple digi is showing signs of white tips. Not growth white.
I know it is very frustrating. Not sure about the temp hopefully someone else will chime in.
Where stability is a good thing temp swings in near surface water in the wild are constant and at times quite extreme. Swings in that range aren't a killer, that they might have a small effect on growth rates would be a matter for discussion...
I lost a couple of pieces when I was away on holidays and when I reached into the tank to pull them out I had a meeting with a DIY defibrillator!!! The old pump running my bio pellet reactor (not plugged into the GFCI) had shorted out.
Maybe worth checking for the voltage thing. I'm a believer in it causing RTN/STN now....
Ive measured before and have stray but was told not to worry to much, maybe ill check and see if its alot higher, but hand was in the tank today and wasnt shocked thank god lol.
i had a maxi jet crap out on me about a month ago wire broke where in goes into the pump, sump smelt like burrning plastic in the morning. Sps all went pale overnight. All corals have since recovered. I'd suspect alk as well.
Oh man... I found that strawberry shortcakes are some of the hardest SPS to keep around... I've had a frag in my tank which was doing well for awhile and all of the sudden just die on me. Same thing happened to Fragbox... just all the sudden... dead.
I had the same thing happen to the one from frag fest. Was doing great. Growing and coloring up for almost three months. Then one morning white as a ghost
Very weird eh? I love strawberry shortcake tho lol. Mine was kind f'ed up from when it was delivered and floated at the top of my tank for a few hours with the lights fullblast, but that was months ago, it was just starting to show signs of green to, but i know that this was cut off a wild colony
