Based on his replies alone he knew it wasn't working right. The captain was immediately defensive, offered no help to rectify the problem and basically told Craig to go pound salt.

Something for people to consider when buying used hardware that I have learned through experience. To avoid situations like this I always test any hardware at the persons place. I always turn them on and make sure they work. That way it avoids any misunderstanding regardless if it is intentional or not. I know of a problem before I buy and can avoid wasting my money.

Did you try the light before you bring it home? If you didn't, this become "you say he say" situation.
Dishonest people is everywhere like it or not. it is up to you to protect yourself especially for that much of money.
While I agree with you some times its not possible when your meeting at a coffee shop.

as a person who has sold alot of used items, i am inclined to side with Captain on this one,
Sorry craig, but i have been messaged by buyers after they left saying the tank they just bought was cracked (they dropped it)
ive had it with tanks, skimmers, pumps, everything....... it got so bad that i literally dissembled everything and TOOK PICTURES of it to prove it was perfectly fine before it left my house.

A mag 18 i sold was a perfect example, i cleaned it, took pictures of the shaft and impeller- sold it. got a message saying they wanted to bring it back cuz i sold them a pump without an impeller shaft... all i did was send pics of it in there 5 min before they bought it and they shutup real fast.

Anyone who sells stuff alot would be defensive, I always said: im not a walmart, if you want a refund policy or warrantee, then buy it new.

Craig- Not saying you dropped it or broke it or anything, but i also would not give out a refund.

Sorry bud.

Here is the problem with this situation. And maybe I'm guilty of commenting myself earlier. This situation may get out of hand. We where not there. And maybe this thread should be removed. I do think posting the guys personal information is not fair. To stand on the side of caution this thread should be closed and personal information be removed.

The information was already there posted by the OP. I was simply quoting it from him. No need for name calling.

a screenshot by the person involved is up to the people involved... text in a forum can be easily found with search engines.... and not up to you...

Fans are cheap and easy to replace. and do eventually burn out. Sounds like you got a good deal on the light and need to spend $20.00 bucks on fans?

As was mentioned go to Sayal electronics and get replacements, There is no possible way you could screw up installing fans, its like plugging in a toaster.

As i read this i find it kinda weird that the other dude didnt at least try to help him out with the light... Its one thing to be like "hey man it was working here so come back and we try to solve this and try to fix it or find the problem" but he ignored Craig so thats a bit fishy... Ive sold this phone on kijiji and guy complained it wasnt charging, so i told him to bring his charger and phone back he came and helped him out using the original iphone charger and he was using one of those fake ones... The problem was solved....

true, its nice that you helped him out, but thats not a requirement, and shouldnt be.
Craig said hes dealt with this guy a few times, and he instantly assumed the guy purposely sold him a faulty light fixture.
That you instantly assume someone screwed you over is fishy in and of itself, espcially if its someone you've dealt with before.

Why are we assuming Nemo was the one screwing craig over, while it could easily be the other way. a solid 50/50 if you ask me.
Public shaming is a sales/refund tactic every day of the week.

I dont know either of these two individuals but this story wouldn't stop me from buying from Nemo, because its my due diligence at that point.
but it would definitely have me being cautious SELLING to craig, as he may make claims i screwed him on purpose and post it all over the forum if i dont give him a refund.

i vote this thread locked though, as this conversation cant really go anywhere else.

If it is 50/50 then it is also valid to think:
I dont know either of these two individuals but this story wouldn't stop me from selling to Craig, because its my due diligence at that point.
but it would definitely have me being cautious BUYING from Captain Nemo, as he may make claims that it worked when he still had it

Now that is fair and square 50/50

i vote this thread locked though, as this conversation cant really go anywhere else.
+1 the two already long gone and left this thread and only a bunch of us that keep fueling this thread and turning it into conspiracy theories LMAO

Lock it down Torx.

Not at all, The 50/50 is in reference to which side of the story could be right (very much his word against his word)
And dont get me wrong, im not saying nemo is innocent, or craig is innocent or vise versa (im not a judge)

But my statement still stands. i would buy from Nemo just like i would anyone else, and i would be very cautious selling to Craig, simply based on this story.
