How can it be aggressive gfo when your using the same amout that you always been using and on top of that you haven't changed your daily routine. You should try and run carbon just in case there were some forum of chemical in your system.

When my heater busted a few weeks ago.        The coral all looked dead.  The fish where swimming and eating  So i wemt to petsmart amd got some carbon    The fluval ,carbon  is the tubs have a bag in them    They are a bitch to clean amd rinse even a week after there was still black shit coming out of the bag when i wemt to rinse it.  I do have a tub of rox carbon from brs i ordered the day the heater broke  so i have some at home of brs rox carbon

I never said I was using it aggressively, I was sharing the fact I read a few articles stating these are things people have experienced when aggressively using gfo. I have always ran the same amount just this time was 2 weeks past swap out time which shouldn't have made an impact. I'm just comparing my experience to others with gfo.

I will start to run carbon but the best I can do is stuff from petsmart , I don't have any on hand.  Thanks Tony for the help.

I never said I was using it aggressively, I was sharing the fact I read a few articles stating these are things people have experienced when aggressively using gfo. I have always ran the same amount just this time was 2 weeks past swap out time which shouldn't have made an impact. I'm just comparing my experience to others with gfo.

be careful with Rox carbon because it is super strong!  You might do more harm then good,  since your theory is gfo stripping all your nutrients I would go with a lower grade carbon and do small water changes.  P. S if Rox is all you can get then use less of it.

I'm  going to re test everything right now with Hanna checkers and sailfert kits. Will get carbon online ASAP, I just ran to petsmart grabbed some lower quality carbon.

my gfo theory is just that, I'm open to all opinions I'm not saying I'm  correct on this is what's happening, but its the only thing that made sense to me before I posted on the forum. I appreciate any input I can get.
