Was it a new container of GFO or salt?

Maybe the batch is contaminated with something.

It wasnt new, I used the other half previously with no issues at all. Both salt and gfo.

Temp is always consistent around 78-79. Salinity is 1.026, triple checked that as well this morning, re-calibrated the refractometer just to be sure.

I did test again with both Hanna and sailfert.

SAILFERT:

Alk- 8.5 dkh
Cal- 440 ppm
Po4- 0 ppm

HANNA :

Alk- 8.7 dkh
Cal- has always been off 390
Phosphorous checker- 0.04 ppm

That sucks Pat
Seems like maybe its a chemical contamination of some sort.
Everything else seems normal, and the same stuff you always use.

Hope you figure it out

yeah those numbers are good, in fact pretty much what I run for PO4 (4 parts per billion) so I think you can rule out an unexpected drop in PO4.

Contamination has got to be the culprit.

I'm crying a little bit inside. carbon is up and running and I'm lost on what chemical could have possibly made its way into the new saltwater. So far 10 corals in the garbage.

pH is in check 8.2 ... I'm totally blown away about what happened, out of no where. I've been dosing same regime I have been for awhile , BRS two part.

As I've been testing and adding the carbon today  I've watched 3 corals start  to be effected and losing tissue, that's after I  threw out 9 or 10 corals.
