So I have my doser drawing from the taller Vertex dosing containers. Was down to maybe 1" of alk and cal left so I disconnected them, popped the lids off and brought them over to my pails of ESV. They are the 5G containers that have 4G in them, and I'd say there was about 3G left. I've typically poured the 1" or so back into their appropriate pail, then give a quick rinse and dry then top back up to full.

Anyone guess what I did yet?

Well I poured the 1" cal into my Alk pail. Well I got this sort of thickening film on top. Thought maybe I could basically skim the top cause below looked ok. As soon as I skim that, more appears. I left it for a few hours, and now it's more clumps of goo, pieces. I am wondering, could I essentially strain those chunks out and if it goes back to clear water looking am I ok, or have I essentially ruined the 3G of ESV Alk?

I believe you have ruined it as you poured the cal in, it precipitated out of the solution, as you could see the build up. The chunks are the Calcium as the Alk is binding it, so basicly you Calcium is gone and it is hard to tell how much of the Alk was used up binding it. If you pull those chunks they should be getting hard and will probably become like concrete. I would say, dump rinse and start fresh.

Sorry just thought of something. You could take those chunks let them dry and put them into your RO/DI make up water, it may dissolve and at least you may get a little Cal. back out of it.
