Finally ordered my new light fixture for my 72" tank. Presently running two power compact fixtures that are both failing (which have caused an algae bloom due to light output). Sometime in December, I should receive my new 60" ATi Powermodule 8x80W fixture. Looking forward to an actual high-quality unit that will sustain most anything. I will take some before & after pictures once this unit comes-in.

That's exciting. Going from PC's to T5 you should notice a huge difference. I have yet to see one of the ATI fixtures. Hopefully they are as nice a their bulbs.

Be sure to post us pictures.

What bulb combo comes with the fiixture?

That's the only problem with these fixtures, bulbs are separate. I guess ATi wants the customer to be able to choose the combination that suits their own needs. I will be mixing but not sure what types yet. I have sold a few of the smaller units but this fixture will be the largest to date. The powermodule has a better finish quailty both structure & looks. The tough part is waiting, my supplier orders large batches and these things go fast.

When you choose your bulbs I would suggest (front to back):

ATI Blue Plus, ATI Aquablue Special, ATI Blue Plus, ATI True Actinic, KZ Fiji Purple, ATI Blue Plus, ATI Aquablue Special, ATI Blue Plus

OR ...

ATI Blue Plus, Aquascience DUO, KZ Fiji Purple, ATI Blue Plus, ATI Blue Plus, Aquascience DUO, KZ Fiji Purple, ATI Blue Plus

Some Major PAR Readings with these combos. Excellent coloration without sacrificing too much growth.

Sounds good, the only change would be the fiji purple since I can still get the discontinued pro series (cheaper)

I'am glad you are happy with your new fixture. These are great products and I thought it was time to get my display tank back inorder. My present fixtures are on their last legs. Looking forward to it arriving which may be after Christmas (missed the last order deadline).

Thought I would update, my supplier has just ordered their bulk order of ATi fixtures. So depending on ATi's stock level I should have my fixture sometime in February (hopefully sooner). My present fixtures have almost completely failed (only running two bulbs over a 140 gallon tank . Luckily the corals that I still have are somewhat happy and are even growing (somewhat surprised about this).

To give this thread some history I have decided to include some pictures of this tanks beginnings and mine to some extent as can be seen by a Prizm skimmer that was used during initial setup. This tank was changed from a freshwater to saltwater 5 years ago and has gone through many different arrangements. We moved the tank from upstairs to the basement a year ago and during this move most of my fish died (due to a heater failure). Presently curing some DIY Live Rock which should be ready for February (which are the last pictures shown).

New update regarding fixture:

After an excessive amount of time I was told that my suppliers bulk order had been placed on hold due to unavailable 54w & 80W components. So while looking into other light fixtures I found that my U.S. supplier also offered these fixtures. So, after a quick conversation with them I ordered a 48" 8-bulb ATi Powermodule fixture with bulbs. This fixture is presently in transit and is scheduled to arrive May 3rd.

Reason for fixture downsize (originally wanted a 60"):

1/ The bulbs for this fixture are uncommon and may be hard to get locally (I would need to order each bulb as a case of 25=$$$$$).
2/ With my present failing light set-up I was forced to redue my liverock set-up creating a single mound with corals branching off, which I now prefer.
3/ With this new lay-out, I can get away with strong lighting just over the centre of the tank and allowing the sides (only 1') to shadow. This area will have lower light corals in the future.
4/ 4' bulbs are readily available

Bulbs of choice:
4- Ati Blue Plus, 2- Ati Aquablue Special, 1- Ati Purple plus & 1- True Actinic 03

Pictures to come when the fixture arrives

you should swap the true actinic for a GE 6500k - better pop for the greens and yellows.

I order my 8x39w ATI Sunpower from Nano-Aquatic out of Brooklyn - they used ReefGeek to drop ship my light at SSC Parcel Pickup in Port Huron. Paid $500 for the light brand new in the box. Gotta love US DOLLAR to CANADIAN DOLLAR exchange right now.  ;D

Here's the pictures of the fixture installed. Slowly increasing the amount of time that all the lights are on to eliminate any coral bleaching. Looking forward to some coral growth and some nice colour-up.
