Out of Control Button Polys

Gents,
If you check the pictures of my tank in the the members tanks thread you will see I had an explosion of green button polyps on the top right hand side and the middle left hand side. Today I decided it was time to take care of this issue. Not sure If this was the right decision or not but I took out about 15lbs of rock and I am currently soaking it in hot water. I then plan on scrubbing all the polyps off the rocks before putting them back in the tank. These polyps secrete a crazy amount of slim so i want to make sure the rocks are clean before they go back in..
Any suggestions

Wear Gloves.  Those polyps can make you go blind.

Bleach , soak for a couple days, let it air out for a week and then soak in water for another couple days

I have bleached large amounts of rock three times and have never had a problem using the rock 2 weeks later

yikes this stuff sounds dangerous.....
I will try the bleach method...just nervous to put the rocks back in in a few weeks.
What should i use to kill the few randoms ones still in my tank ?

This is interesting...I've used hot hot water to clean aragonite sane before, and had my nose and throat burn like I inhaled pure cement dust... is there something in just regular salt organics or did you mean if he used bleach.

palyotoxins are very dangerous when inhaled through steam.. if you google it like 75% of cases are when people use hot water or boiling water to remove palys and they inhaled the vapours in the air. its much worse than just getting some on your fingers and rubbing your eyes.

me and rick got rid of all of mine from my tank and we both got poisoned by them and had a fever and were pretty sick

i bought some of those aqua gloves    ...lol...they go way up to yur shoulders....i got water in them once and there a bitch to turn them inside out to dry them

I've got a ton of them, handle them fairly frequently too, never have any kind of reaction, although I also never get stung from frogspawn or torch, and I know some people can get nasty stings from them too.  Good to know though, as they do tend to grow like crazy.

So I guess the lesson here is... if you want to get rid of a few zoas or paly's, just starve them of light and they shrink up on their own.  I know I've done that in the past.  I like paly's and zoas too much to purge them, however I never knew they were quite so poisonous.  Of course I only found out recently that some Paracanthurus hepatus can be toxic/poisonous.  Man I've got my arm in there swatting at those three tangs of mine all the time.
