So I'm moving along pretty well with my set up. I think I'm not at the plumbing stage. It looks like it should be a bean animal setup but for some reason one is capped off Sooo I took some pics. He also had flex hose and I want to make it all abs. Please instruct me!!!!

That looks like a bean animal set up but it is missing the primary drain. What you have right now is the emergency drain and the secondary drain.the little fitting on top should have a 1/4" John Guest tube in it that clips inside of your overflow weir and is set to about 1/4"-1/2" above the normal running water level.
I see a third bulkhead there, is it empty?

Yes the one is capped off and don't know why. So I need to uncap and make it the right way. As for no abs. Do they sell the sch40 at tsc or anything like that? I'm in Woodstock and sourcing plumbing isn't easy.

Tsc is a good bet i have got some there before and so is a Home Hardware BUILDING CENTER ( that is where i got ALL of mine). Forget home depot, for some reason they carry virtually no "white" pvc.

Also, are there valves on any of the drain pipes? As you can see, i put them on all mine but i will admit it was over-kill. ( to make it look even actually ).
But the primary drain must have one and i
Recommend the secondary as well.

I agree with Heath. If you want poor customer service and VERY disorganized shelving then this is the prime example. I am a plumber and even I gave up trying to find stuff there.
If you know what your looking for, I carry almost everything you would need for schedule 40 PVC 1/2" - 1" and I have an account at Plasco London if I run out.
Will send you a PM.

Oh and don't use abs. Use schedule 40
( SCH40 ) or SDR21 for your pipes and fittings.
ABS (black pipe) is not chemically stable enough for potable water (drinking) or salt water for our purposes. It is meant only for drainage as it rarely contains water/sewage....if installed properly. That's rule #1. Liquids run down hill. Unless the handy man installs it and I have to fix it.
PVC schedule 40 is best and least expensive for aquarium use.

Thats right.
For those un familiar with it.
I only mentioned the SDR21 as it is a bit cheaper, allows for a bit more water flow ( cant remember for sure but i think its 5 or 7% more ) is still potable grade pvc and is good for lower operating pressures like in our awesome hobby [emoji4]
Downside, i think it only comes in diameters up to 1"?
Is this correct @Pipes?

Never worked with SDR less than 4". Residential sewer pipe. Only inventory Schedule 40 & 80 PVC, System15, ABS, SRD 4", copper, Roth pex, Uponor pex, Heat link pex, Galvanized & black iron steel pipe, some & brass fittings. Pipe wise of course, then all the rest of the stuff for residential & commercial repairs....and water treatment of course. Looking at this I should have done something else with my $$$$$ or lack of.

Lol. I hear ya about the $$$$$$ part, this hobby can really tap a wallet out pretty quick. Especially when you are first starting out. And I forgot about the sewer application for SDR.
How is your build coming along there now @Pipes?
