Now that my CBS is relegated to the basement, and I have my cleaner and a new peppermint in the display, I would like to find a nice little pistol to bond with my YWG (I hope).

Anyone had these guys?  My display is in my living room - is the clicking noise they make continuous?  Will it bother me watching TV 10 feet away?  I love the idea of a goby/shrimp pair.  Looking forward to the anecdotal evidence.

my buddy has a decorative pistol shimp, I've always removed them as pests, I think I've caught 3 over the years.  I found the noise annoying as they got bigger...I don't think you would hear it over a tv.

I had one and hated it. Although, the symbiotic relationship between the shrimp and goby was kinda cool.

Clicking didn't bother me much. It was the constant digging and rearranging that it would do to my aquascape. Mine would grab anything it could and pull it into it's burrow (I lost a lot of frags). I ended up ripping all the rock out of my tank to catch the little guy. Never again....

I think the pistol shrimp and goby combo would be better suited in a large tank. Great for helping turn over the sand bed. I had mine in a 75g.

THAT is not something that I considered.  Dang, I think they are so cool, but that is probably the deal breaker.  Thanks for the heads up.

Buddy says his shrimp doesn't pull too much stuff into his burrow, but he digs so much out he worries about the aquascaping collapsing sometimes.
