So i may have a small leak in my 75. Not sure yet. So its pushing me to set up the 135. What kind of plumbing parts will i need.i need parts for the overflow candy cane part. I believe the bulkhead takes a 1.5". How tall of a pipe will i need? My tank is 24 tall. Sump is right under the tank in the stand. Elbows how many? Gate valves stuff like that. Keep in mind ive never plumbed a tank in my life.

talk to Graig (sewerat) he did mine and did an awesome job.. we did a drawing first, some of my parts came from Reef supply or contact sealife central, they were absolutely great. and their prices are good too..

What you will need all depends on what you want from it. Silent? Fail safe? Room to grow? Portability? But basicly best setup is bean animal so 3 drains and one return. One needs gate valve for best option and two need ball valves at least. Nw should have a few unions so you can take pipes apart if ever need be, elbow all depend on how solid or clean of a setup you want, but ideally should be as few elbows in the run as possible. Return line needs to run from pump to tank so there's your length. Drains need to run from tank to sump water level or just below it actually. And there you have it in a nut shell. So with out looking I'd say 20-30' of pipe, 4 unions, 2 ball valves, 1 gate valve, 12 elbows, a few slip to thread adapters both male and female, some primer, some glue and that should get you close

The tank is already drilled in the bottom corner, so bean animal isnt possible. I need a piece of plumbing that comes from the bulk head and creates a candy cane in the overflow from what ive been told.

What type of return do you want to do ? Over the top or use one hole for the drain and one for the return?

The drain you are talking about is a durso and it is very loud. Are you able to drill it or is it running?

Its currently empty. Personally no i cant drill it because ive never done it and really dont wanna try lol. For the return i was going to just go over the top since i didnt wanna drill. Anyone with experience wanna drill for some frags? Lol. What are my options if i can get someone to drill it. Id prefer everthing stay in the current overflow area.

Talk to sewerat about drilling the tank. He has some experience and might want some frags. As far as pluming I had my 75 drilled to accommodate a bean animal with a drilled return. I drilled a third hole in the skimmer box for the emergency and I put my return on the other side of the tank. The reason I did that was for the return to push the protein slick into the skimmer box. You use the two holes in the bottom for the full syphon and the trickle and the third is the dry emerg. If you sump is directly underneath then it would be minimal fittings. I can send you some pics of mine if you are interested in that option

I drilled mine exactly as Bart mentioned. I have bits for a 1" and a 3/4" bulk head I drilled 2 holes in mine as well and have nice started drilling holes in other tanks for various things. I was going to drill my 150 for one more hole and was willing to drill heathers if needed. I'm always looking for frags as I'm still in growth mode.

Read up on the Herbie as well as bean...bean is really just an evolution of the Herbie with the added failsafe. The emergency drain of the bean is nice to have but the Herbie is already a safer system than any commercially available overflow system so you could make a strong argument that it is unnecessary.
