I've decided to start a nano reef, if I'm successful with it I will move it to the office in a couple of months.

What I used.
5g tank
Hydro nano powerhead
Aquaclear mini
Tiny heater
Led sump light.
6+-lbs of live rock
And crushed coral from one of my tanks.

I used water, rock and substrate from existing tanks so I'm not expecting any cycle.

I will do 1g water changes every week

Hoping to keep 1 clown fish, 2 snails, 1 hermit and maybe some soft corals, mushrooms and zoas

Any thoughts, tips or comments are appreciated!

I think its funny when people think they wont get any cycle just because they used existing rock and water from another tank.

really now?, explain to me how there will be a cycle then?

because that rock will be used to working in unison with the rest of the previous tank biological filtration.  Now it will have to adjust to being the sole provider for bio in a new setting.  Not to mention that the tank it came out of will go thru a mini cycle to make up for the loss of one of its workers.
Also, taking water from an established tank really does nothing.  The water doesnt carry anything useful from one tank to another.  If anything, it will carry whatever 'bad' stuff is in the previous tank more so than good stuff.

Sounds good in theory but I would disagree.. You won't get a cycle unless there is die off, being a new tank the bio load will be so minimal I'm positive the existing rock and water will just keep on going, also the existing tank should adapt pretty quick to having some rock removed also making it very unlikely to have any cycle at all

Post the IMG code. Not the direct link. You shouldn't have to do anything else.

Good luck with it Brandon, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too. I have a sweet little 30 gal corner tank that I plan on setting up somewhere eventually. I've been slowly picking up the equipment for it. It may end up in my bedroom. Not sure when and where yet LOL

do I sense a grin or a smirk in that post ? How'd you convince the boss to let you set it up? I think your customers would love it - who doesn't love to see an aquarium that they don't have to look after?Keep us updated with your progress !
