its a way of making a standard tank into one with a sump. The overflow replaces the intank overflow. Similar to your all-in-one but separate. Like a hang on the back filter and the water flows into it and then down to the sump and then pumped back up and into the tank.

there will be a sump on this tank...not sure if that makes a difference.. my other tanks are set up with the bean animal, I prefer that system as its simple...I was just wondering if you get better flow with a corner compared to a center or are there any benefits...

I like them better then drilling the tank. If you need to for some reason change your rock work or say scratch your front glass by accident and you need to swap sides you can. You are stuck if you drill it. They are also cheaper and can be added to an existing tank that is set up. Drilled you would have to empty the tank and risk cracking it yourself or have to pay someone to do it for you. That means you have to get it to them. Or use a new tank that is drilled before setup. I find the over flow box more adjustable as well, cheaper, can be used on a set up tank and you can add mechanical media into it. Flip side you do run the issue with something going wrong. Mind you in all the years I have been using them I have only had one issue. One of the ones I am using is 25 years old and I had an issue when I hit the box and didn't notice I cracked the plastic screw. So when I went on vacation the box broke off and the water came up and over the top flooding the floor. But really that is the only issue I have ever had. All over flow boxes are not the same. I like the tube kind as they have no problems starting and don't need a power head to start the syphon if the power goes off like the. Plus the newer boxes unlike mine use 2 screws instead of one like mine so you reduce the chance of failure.

I like the one below style and brand.

I find the one below here are more hassle and are harder to micro adjust. If the power head doesn't start back up you run the risk of overflow issue. @EricTMah can contest to that. ;)

I think that we are getting away from what I was asking or maybe I wrote it wrong.. there will be a sump on this tank with all of the needed equipment hidden in the sump.. I was just asking if anyone had any preference or experience with corner or center overflows...my other tanks have corner overflows...

It is really just a personal preference. Depends on the rock work and what you like to see. So long as you have the right overflow for the tank size there is no real pro or cons when it comes to the tank health. Location is not key, so long as there is ample flow and the surface is being agitated or skimmed. You can tell typically as there would be a faint white tinge to the water if it not being skimmed enough.

Example

Corner overflow = Pack rocks up in the corner to hide it.
Middle overflow = Pack rocks up in the middle to cover it. the edges can have less and less rock or you can fill the whole back wall with rocks.

I like Center over corner simply for asthetic reasons. I like that you can look from either end and not see the plumbing.
That is why I have a center overflow on my peninsula and a corner overflow on my horse tank. My horse tank is in a corner of my living room. A center overflow would take away from it

if you drill through the back instead of the bottom your overflow box will be considerably shorter and in the center,, for the question , i think 2 corners are better than 1, otherwise center
