I know a few of you are familiar with this tricky and rare coral...I don't think there are a lot of colonies left (last known harvesting was 1995). I got a teeeeny piece from Reefhero a couple of years ago, and after a lot of research on this fella, decided to put it low in the tank (I think it's a deepwater acro which may account for the difficulty in keeping it in a reef tank).

Saying it's a slow grower is an understatement, but I got my first legit bud growing on the colony this past month. Quite pleased about that. It's one of those corals I have just left in a semi-shaded area and haven't touched or bothered.

Patience is indeed a virtue with the reef tank.

I'd imagine the west coast would be where you might find a bit here or there. When I was in LA I went to vivid. Crazy stuff they had there. Stuff we pay huge here for is much cheaper out west. Problem is, we can't get it here easily.

I actually remember Darryl_V had a some nice sized frags of it a few years ago at Frag Fest and a couple local reefers got lucky.

I couldn't believe that he still ended up bringing home, although I know MadJelly was selling the rest off.

I wonder who else has it in Ontario... It's my understanding there is some available among hobbies within the GTA.

If anyone has a frag, let me know via PM.

;)

Last time I was talking to Jay he was putting together a huge shipment that was headed to LA for resale at larger dollars than here... so it goes both ways.....

Lol, I'll take a pic tomorrow. It really has just looked like a purple blob for the past couple of years. It's like the tyree pink lemonade, it's just encrusted and refused to branch. But, pink lemonade isn't all that hard to come by :)
